Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Trooper Robert Wayne Ambrose

You were preparing to graduate the academy when we first met at Peekskill. Your smile was warm and your heart was gold. You made an excellent trooper and made better the lives of those around you. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten and your family will always be ours. Godspeed our brother!

Timothy Owens

How our hearts break for you. I cant seem to find the words that I need. We lost our 24 year old daughter in the line of duty on 5/4/02. Automobile accident. I thought that maybe I could offfer some help, but I'm falling on my face here, Please
just let me say that I'm sorry for your loss. You are not alone,
even though it will seem like that. Just do the best you can, dont worry about what people think.

To the family of Trooper Ambrose, first let me say how sorry I am to hear about your lost. The reason I'm writing is to let you know that i feel a special kind of bond w/ Trooper Ambrose because on Dec.20,2002 @ approx 6:15a.m, I too was involved in a rear-end crash almost identical to Trooper Ambrose. While I was working a early morning accident on the side of the road, a Dodge Neon rear-ended me while I was sitting in my patrol unit(Ford Crown Vic) @ a est. speed of 65mph. I am alive today by the grace of God and I am very thankful. The driver that hit me was drunk. I prayed for Ambrose the day I heard about this accident. God Bless you and your family. I've lost a brother .I hope this gives your family some comfort and that even though we were not of the same agency, we're both doing something we both loved.God Bless you and your family. I'M FREE

Don't greive for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that peace at close of day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
My life's been full, I've savored much
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all to too brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and share with me,
God wanted me now; He set me free.

MAY GOD COMFORT YOU ALL

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of singing birds in circling flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
I am the flowers that bloom.
I am in a quiet room.

I am in the birds that sing.
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there. I did not die.

What a horrific waste. I can totally empathize with his position when a routine investigation turns into a situation which has unimaginable consequences. My most sincere sympathy goes out to Tpr. Ambrose and his family . May God look favorably upon him as an individual who was only trying to do his "job". May the 4000 + Members of the NYSP reflect upon this sobering aspect of reality and react with extraordinary caution in similar situations.

Sgt./SC. Jan A. Riepma (Ret.)

Look to GOD for comfort and guidance when in times of grief, pain, confusion, and at all times. I pray for GOD to be with you all.

' Death is nothing at all..I have only slipped away into the next room..I am I and you are you..whatever we were to each other that we are still. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you used to. Put no difference into your tone; wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Pray, smile, think of me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.Let it be spoken without effect , without the ghost of a shadow on it . Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was; There is absolutely unbroken continuity. What is this death but a negligble accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you,
for an interval, somewhere very near just around the corner .. All is well '
