I had meet Trooper Gleason once at the Ticonderoga Fire Department Christmas Party in 2001 but found him to a great guy with a lot of wisdom and caring personality. He will be missed.

To my friend Larry, I will always remember you as a friend who always made the simple things in life fun. Your passing is very difficult to come to grips with, but the memories of our good times and long friendship will never fade from my mind or my heart. Rest in peace my friend, until we meet again....

No words can express the loss that has happened for the Gleason Family, friends and co-workers. Larry, from your family in the law enforcement community, there will always be a space in our hearts and souls, reminding us of what you stood for and what you have done. We will always remember you, Larry. We will always miss you and until we see one another again, the warmth of your smile will always shine bright in our hearts.

Special Agent Christopher Secondo

To the family and friends of Trooper Gleason, and to the New York State Police, I offer my deepest sympathy in your loss. May God bless you and help you through this most difficult time.

Lt. Dan M. Vickmark

In situations like this words can't adequatly express the sorrow we feel by such a tragic situation. The family needs to know that Officer Gleason is a hero and very brave man. With Gods comfort we can get thru any situation even one as tragic as this.

John 15:13 Greater Love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for another.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

MY HEARTFELT PRAYERS AND CONDOLENCES GO OUT TO TROOPER GLEASON'S FAMILY AND FRIENDS. ANY TIME AN OFFICER IS CALLED TO SERVE IN HEAVEN IT HURTS US ALL, ESPECIALLY IN THIS TIME OF "WAR ON TERRORISM". WHAT MOST CIVILIANS DON'T REALIZE IS THE THE ARMED FORCES HAVE BEEN CALLED TO DUTY TO FIGHT ABROAD DURING THIS WAR,AND THAT THE BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN BLUE FIGHT "THE WAR ON TERRORISM" EVERY SINGLE DAY. IN AND OR OUT OF UNIFORM. LET US REJOICE IN THE KNOWLEDGE THAT LARRY IS SERVING WITH GOD IN A MUCH BETTER PLACE. REST IN PEACE LARRY, YOUR PRESENCE ON EARTH IS MISSED. GOD BLESS THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF TROOPER GLEASON, AND GOD BLESS AMERICA

OFFICER DEAN CRINER
COLUMBUS POLICE (OHIO)

My heart goes out to Trooper Gleason and his family. I myself lost my fiance in the line of duty duty on April 9th, 1997. I know the pain that his fiance and family must feel. But I have come to accept Joeys loss. I know that he died protecting our country and the same goes for Trooper Gleason. They are now with the many other heros that protect heaven. We are very lucky to be involved with such a wonderful family called law enforcement. Trooper Gleason died for his country and the great state of New York and he will never be forgotten for that ultimate sacrifice.

Dana R. Perot
Survivor (Fiance') of Deputy Joseph C. Rodgers

" I think now looking back, that we are not fighting an enemy. Sometimes we are fighting ourselves and the enemy is within us. Make yourself no mistake; give all to your brothers in blue. Never let their badge go tarnished only because, Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. When we meet again brothers, then we will smile, if not then we know that this party was well formed"!

This is what I said when my partners was slain. I hurt every time a brother in blue leaves us for any reason. Please pray for their families and make sure the babies, and wives of our brothers survive.

With the deepest sorrow and the never forgotten honor,

Detective Matthew Heckman
New Bern Police Department
New Bern, North Carolina

I'm very proud of you "Little Larry", my cousin and one of my very best friends. I've spent most of my childhood growing up with you and enjoyed it in every way. I'm a better person today for having been blessed with so much of your time. You are very loved and respected, and will forever be in time. So please look in on us to make sure we all find our way. Because.......one day.....we will all meet again.

I ask you Lord, please look after "our Larry"; he is very special to us all.

GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!! YOU WONT BE FORGOTTEN!

A NORFOLK POLICE OFFICER

PART OF AMERICA DIED
SOMEBODY KILLED A POLICEMAN TODAY,
AND PART OF AMERICA DIED.
A PIECE OF HIS COUNTRY HE SWORE TO PROTECT
WILL BE BURIED WITH HIM AT HIS SIDE.
THE SUSPECT WHO SHOT HIM WILL STAND UP IN COURT,
WITH COUNSEL DEMANDING HIS RIGHTS,
WHILE A YOUNG WIDOWED MOTHER MUST WORK FOR HER KIDS,
AND SPEND ALONE MANY LONG NIGHTS.
THE BEAT THAT HE WALKED WAS A BATTLEFIELD TOO,
JUST AS IF HE'D GONE OFF TO WAR.
THOUGH THE FLAG OF OUR NATION WON'T FLY AT HALF MAST,
TO HIS NAME THEY WILL ADD A GOLD STAR.
YES, SOMEBODY KILLED A POLICEMAN TODAY,
IT HAPPENED IN YOUR TOWN OR MINE.
WHILE WE SLEPT IN COMFORT BEHIND OUR LOCKED DOORS,
A COP PUT HIS LIFE ON THE LINE.
NOW HIS GHOST WALKS A BEAT ON A DARK CITY STREET,
AND HE STANDS AT EACH NEW ROOKIE'S SIDE.
HE ANSWERED THE CALL, AND GAVE US HIS ALL,
AND A PART OF AMERICA DIED.

NYARNG

In the wake in the September 11 terrorist attacks, its a crying shame that We as a United Nation have to be subjected by senseless acts of violence and cowardly acts by individuals such as the one who took Trooper Gleason's life. It makes me sick to my stomach to think that on September 11, so many innocent people lost their lives, young and old. People with accomplished pasts and people with aspiring futures. Trooper Gleason is now among the ranks of these individuals for they are all heroes, and will watch upon us until our final days.
God Bless Trooper Gleason

GOD BLESS YOU TROOPER LARRY GLEASON AND MAY HE BE WITH YOUR FIANCEE AND YOUR FAMILY IN THIS TERRIBLE TIME. YOU ARE ALL IN MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS. WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU AND NEVER UNDERSTAND THE SENSELESS VIOLENCE THAT TOOK YOU FROM US.

REMEMBER

IF YOU ARE ABLE
SAVE FOR THEM A PLACE
INSIDE OF YOU
AND SAVE ONE BACKWARD GLANCE
WHEN YOU ARE LEAVING
FOR THE PLACES THEY CAN
NO LONGER GO.
BE NOT ASHAMED TO SAY
YOU LOVED THEM
THOUGH YOU MAY
OR MAY NOT HAVE ALWAYS.
AND IN THAT TIME
WHEN MEN DECIDE AND FEEL SAFE
TO CALL THE WAR INSANE,
TAKE ONE MOMENT TO EMBRACE
THOSE GENTLE HEROES
YOU LEFT BEHIND.
