Reflections for Trooper Lawrence P. Gleason

Three years have passed and it is amazing to see now how very many lives you touched. I know that every hunt out here in colorado me and Vinn walk these mountains with you by our side. I look so very forward to seeing you again in the next life. Thank you for all that you did in your short time here. God Bless you brother

Three years ago today, myself and many others lost a dear friend. Not a day has passed in which I have not thought of you. Everyday, your memory becomes stronger...Everyday, I still see your smile...

Almost thirty-two years ago we seen the First light together. From day one we were meant to be friends. We never had an arguement or a complaint with one another (except who was born first). We just always seemed to have a good time of what ever we did. Larry you were like the brother I always dreamed of having. Our friendship was like no other. That's why you are my Best Friend. Our friendship will never end - you have left me with so many memories that I will never forget. Those days of hunting and fishing whether we got anything or not we had a great time. Those days of football, skiing, or just riding around we made the best of it. Life with you whether at home, college, or on the job was to say the least worth spending with you. Yes I'll miss the SMILE, the sarcasim, the hunts and what not - but I have something to look back on - "The Memories". On Feb. 11, 2002 You seen the second light. And the light you see now shines on me everyday and brightens my life. And if I know you you're still smiling and your sarcasim is still there. Even though your dream was cut short you made the best of it while you were here.

God Bless My Friend, TIGGY

I check this site regularly and it seems I find a violent, tragic loss of another officer almost daily. I think of you and what happened often Larry. I work with Troopers who knew you from the academy and we talk about you a lot, especially when we lose another officer nearby which seems to happen too often. Know that you didn't die in vain. You're memory helps us carry on and get the job done no matter how dangerous, scared, or unsure we are in every situation. You will never be forgotten, rest in peace and watch over all of us from above. God Bless.

I dreamt about you last night. I remember it well.

I don’t know where we were, but there I stood. I heard someone approach and I turned around to see. There came Shannon with her new hairdo, gleaming blue eyes and the brightest smile in the world. Behind her she was dragging someone by the arm, half walking, half running as if to say “Hurry, hurry! I can’t wait!”

“Hisa! This is my brother Larry!” she said, out of breath.

I didn’t see you clearly – I didn’t see your face. But you amiably reached out your hand and as I reached out mine to take yours, I felt myself waking. I tried so hard to stay asleep but I knew I was waking up. And then I did.

Until next time.

Larry
Hornell NY. The same small town lead many of us in the same direction. To serve and protect with all our hearts, those we love, those whom are strangers. You walked that line of ocean blue crossing over to a better place, in the arms of an Angel. Rest easy now dear guardian, go forth and patrol your heavenly streets. Your brothers and sisters will take it from here. To his family and friends...Take comfort in knowing he is a hero, gone but not forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Maslow once professed the ideology of "B-Values." On that April night we learned the true significance of it as we "Took Back the Night." Thank God that investigator was there to clear matters as to why I was there. The others didn't look too happy at first.

Dear Red Raider,
I bet Johnny U. is thinking twice about taking the snap.

I am deeply saddened by this tragic news. Another of the best people on earth has fallen to an evil murderer. I hope the community will show its outrage, as well as appreciation for this officer's sacrifice. My deepest sympathies and prayers to the family, friends and brother/sister officers of Trooper GLEASON. Rest in Peace brother.

I came across this page while searching for the page of my uncle - Daniel T. Gleason (Philadelphia PD - EOW 6/5/86) I just wanted to extend my condolences & prayers to the family and friends of Trooper Lawrence P. Gleason. Though we share the same family name, we are united as a different kind of family.

Its hard to believe that it has been a year since we lost our friend and our brother. LG was taken from us much too early. I was privledged enough to have recieved a pin from LG's family that has his initials and his badge number on it and I wear it on my uniform every day with great pride and whenever someone inquires about it I am both saddened to have to explain what happened and yet I am also proud to do this as It keeps that part of LG with us. LG was one of a kind and he will live on forever in our hearts and memory. God bless you LG and God bless your family.

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the shift to the memory of a fallen officer. Tonight, February 11, 2003, we dedicated the shift to the memory of Trooper Gleason, New York State Police, who died on this date last year.

When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.

Trooper Gleason's sacrifice will never be forgotten.

One year ago today, I heard the terrible news that morning from a fellow Police Officer from Hornell P.D. I was in shock and couldn't believe what had happened. I am still saddened everytime I think of what happened to you or when I see your memorial on this website. It was and still is not fair, you had so much in front of you. We all cried at your wake and at your funeral, it hurt a lot. What a sad time it was.
I know that your family, especially Kate, misses you dearly as do the people of Hornell, NY and your fellow Troopers and Police Officers.
But I know you are in a better place now, so rest easy. Watch over us that are still here "on the beat" as we carry on in your name.
You will not be forgotten. God bless you brother.
