Sorry I can't make the dedication of the highway in his honor. I was in the academy with him. At the time I was with Sparta IL as a patrolman.

After nearly 10 long and frustrating years you now have a highway that will have your name on it as a memorial for all to remember you. You always told me to never give up on anything and I didn't. My devotion to you has and always will be true dad. On May 3rd, 2014 your badge number will finally be retired and the memorial highway will be dedicated. We all love and miss you so very much. Thank you for always being our superman and protecting us no matter the cost.

Another year has come and gone. It doesn't seem like it has been 25 years that we shared our last Christmas together. The best gift I could ever have was you being my dad. This year seems so much harder than any other. We love and miss you so very much. Merry Christmas daddy.

At 1:18am July 26th,2012 your grandson was born. He will share one thing with you in common except for his side burns. He was born on the same hour and minute as you left us. He is such a strong little man like you. He will know how love you always gave and still do. Hoyten Coal will know all about his grandpa. I hope that after I am gone that he will continue to talk to you as I talk to you daddy.

Chad, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My grandfather, James H. Landrum, also paid the ultimate price for our safety. Landrum's have a long history of public service through law enforcement and military service. Most of us trace our heritage back to two brothers who entered Essex County Va around 1786. We may or may not be related but either way I just wanted you to know your father's sacrifice is appreciated and he is honored by those who desire a civilized society.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 23rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect and your memory will always be honored and revered.

I pray for solace for all those who love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Your family is in my heart's embrace today. Thanks to your son Chad for sharing his devotion to you in his memories. I too understand the meaning of a life-altering event.

Rest In Peace

Well it has almost been 22 years now daddy and it is not getting any easier for me to let you go or to get over what happened to you. I feel most days that I let you down. You did all you could to give my a perfect life and all I did was screw it up but you loved me and pushed me even harder. I wish that I could see you again. I miss you hugs and telling me that you love me and picking on me. I so miss you daddy. Happy Valentines Day. I Love and Miss You.

John,
Thanks is not enough for the dedication and sacrifice you gave, but until better words are created, Thank you. Thank you for protecting my family as we slept, as we played and as we loved. You gave up all you had for me and my family, as well as thousands of families that you never knew. You did so out of Duty and Honor, two word I hope I can live up to.

Chad,
Your father is a true Hero. He will NEVER be forgotten. I know that you are proud of him, as I am sure he is of you. You will forever be in my prayers.

Phil
