"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray Psalm 91 over all LEO’s and this prayer also:

“Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

I know that God sends those angels to watch over our officers, sometimes to protect them and sometimes to whisk our officers into His presence.

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

I have lifted your family to God every morning for over six years. I pray that Christopher's life and death will bring glory to His name.

Trust those prayers. God is with you; He knows and will ease your pain.

Our faith helps us to see beyond the grave.

Chris Driver,

You were such a great friend and every time I saw you, there was laughter. I will miss our going back and forth with each other when football season comes back around. It is a hard time but by the grace of God, we will take each day as it comes, always remembering you. I hope you are enjoying patrolling the streets of heaven with Alan as we now have two angels watching over us. Until we meet again brother! RIP Batman

Brother, your loss is as much a tragedy as anyone's. Every time we lose a Brother or Sister, a piece of us is lost. How on Earth, with all we've lost, do we still survive? It's your spirits that keep us going. For every part we lose, we find strength to carry on.

God Bless you Officer Driver and may you forever Rest in Peace.

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.

There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

Driver we have always joked with each other and even got on each other nerves. I am going to miss you coming into the communication center asking me if I want coffee because you know my response would be “now you know I don’t want no stinking coffee” you would laugh and say "I know that, but I really didn’t want to go get you anything anyway, lol". I will miss you, your laughter and of course your dancing.

Driver you will be deeply missed my brother. The way you can light up a room and bring a smile to anybody's face. You were truly an inspiration to me and all I can do is pray to be half the man you were and just to touch a small percentage of people I come into contact with as you did. Even though it hurts now we know brighter days are to come and that you are smiling down on us. I just ask of you Batman that you help to protect your families as we attempt to move forward. It will be hard but by the Grace of God we can endure anything. We love you Driver. From Jones and your RMPD Family.
