Joe:
Thanks for your service and sacrifice. It is deeply appreciated. I too was stationed in Vicenza, Italy (509th Airborne). Some of the best soldiers the U.S. has ever had have come from Vicenza. I hope your family is well and that you know that your service and sacrifice is not forgotten.

Joe, I has taken me a very long time to be able to write. I carry your memory with me daily. You are my hero and my motivation to get the job done. Please know you are not forgotten and your sacrifice was not in vain. There are those just like us who will never quit and who refuse to leave anyone behind. You know I will never forget you and God willing, no one around me ever will. I love you, my brother. "Prairie Fire"

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Joseph was killed.

To Joseph's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Special Agent Peters gave to his country and its citizens, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on October 6, 2013.
