Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Raul V. Gama

Rest in peace, my brother. You are now in a much better place. "The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion." Proverbs 28:1

You gave it your all and the Lord has called you home. Know that Your loved ones will be cared for. You willingly gave the ultimate sacrifice. "No greater thing one does, than to give one's life for a friend." Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with your wife and family.
Thank You

My favorite reflection of Raul "Guppy" Gama is the time he jumped into the rushing L.A. River after heavy rains and saved a youth from drowning.Unfortunately after saving the boy Raul soaking wet was taken further down the river and had to be assisted out of the river by the boys father. I will never forget you my brother. I saw you always put your family,co-workers,the Dept.,and the people you served in the community primero. You were a genuine man and I know God has his reasons for calling on you.On behalf of The So.Cal.Choir Boys,we honor you and send our deepest condolences to your extended familia.Valla con dios my friend.Y meteles una ELA patada in heaven.
See you "Guppy".

The silence, now, is deafening
where once his laughter fell.

The beat is empty of the one
who knew its streets so well.

The squad room has a vacancy
no one else can occupy.

and so we stand, salute and grieve
again we say 'good-bye'.

God Bless you and keep you, Raul. Rest well. Know that your family will be well cared for and that you shall not be forgotten.

Wutz up, partner! I know ur not here w/me now but I'll always remember the good times we had at ELA - 2nd to none, brutha. Thnx for the laughs, the stories, the memories,,,thnx for being part of my life for several years. I consider myself a fortunate man to have known you and worked with you as we did the Lord's work; you had my back. I'll never forget that u always took the time to say hello when we passed each other. Raul, go 10-8 in heaven, and watch my back from above as you did when u were 10-8 w/me here. Brutha, lotta love for u and ur familia.

We had alot of good times in Cudahy. You were a great friend and partner. I will always remember our last conversation Friday, before your passing. Needless to say, it hurts to see you go so quick. Until we meet again, please watch over us.

This is another senseless death of a true hero, by a complete failure of intelligence and respect-the drunk driver. God's richest love to the family of Deputy Gama. God be with you and give you strength and perserverence. To the Sheriff's Department and Officers in Blue nationwide, may St Michael protect you and what you are doing daily is not in vane. We appreciate your dedication and know each day is an unknown to you. Lean on God.

Gama (aka: Gummie Bear),

We met 14 years ago when you worked the Cud. at East L.A. Station. In that time short time we became close friends. We worked as a team eventhough I was just a city employee as a Code Enforcement Officer. We both enjoyed doing our job and spending time with our families. We shared many family stories together. You my friend went above and beyond and no one can ever walk in your shoes. You have redifened the definition of "true friendship". You were always willing to help others without asking for anything in return. You,my friend, have touched many hearts including mine. You will always be remembered. Thanks for being a part of my life and for the memories. God bless you brooooo! To the Gama Family, my deepest condolences. My thoughts and prayers will always be with you.

Deputy Gama is a Hero who stood up and did his duty in the face of the evil in this world. I pray his family stays stong and lets the Lord heal them. Deputy Gama is now smiling and looking down on his family he left behind while he now holds hands with God. God bless you Raul.
