Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Larry Brian Mitchell

Well here we are six years later.... What and incredible journey this has been. I never would have imagined things turning out the way they have for me but I don't guess anyone ever thinks something like this can ever happen to them it always happens to someone else.
As you know some days are better than others but I would be a selfish fool if I didnt fell lucky to have the many things that you left me... Dylan is my blessing and my saving grace. I hope that I can be the parent that he needs me to be.. he is a truly special little man and I know he is destined for great things.... he has your beautiful spirit and my stuborn headedness....

Love you with all my heart, soul, body, mind and money....

keep your angel wings over us and keep us safe..

Officer Mitchell,
Yesterday the Gallup Police Department held a memorial in honor of all fallen officers in McKinley County. The torch is passed on. We do not forget. A whole new administration and lots of young new officers now. A few of us oldies still here. Your best bud, Sgt. Boyd, Sgt. Wright, Jenelle Yazzie, Devonne Lasiloo, Yvonne Notah, Detective Harold Littlefield, Lieutenant Miranda Littlefield. Wednesday, May 30th will be six years and our hearts still hurting. Only our faith in God keeps us going. We miss you and love you. We are all praying for your wife, son, mother, father, brother and sister and the brothers and sisters on the force.

Miss you so much. Still can't believe it's been 6 years. You are thought about everyday. Erica has done a tremendous job. We continue to keep her and Dylan in prayer and of course, your family also. Keep watch over your fellow officers.

ASCENSION

And if I go,
While you’re still here---
Know that I live on,
Vibrating to a different measure
--behind a thin veil you cannot see through.
You will not see me,
So you must have faith.
I wait for the time when we can soar together again,
--both aware of each other.
Until then, live your life to its fullest.
And when you need me,
Just whisper my name in your heart,
…I will be there.

...Larry...(thanks for the pep talk)...my biggest fear still though is that i let u down...(please tell me it ain't so)...Erica, I never told ya but i was in the field on patrol a time that seems forever ago ..i needed a note pad...Larry being Larry, would give u the shirt off his back...offered his (he said he had another)...about 3 calls later...i flipped the notebook page and there was a note...from you to him...that was the night he gave me a wallet pic of his wonderfull family...just cause we were pals...and the time a begged him to come to McGaffie lake to hang out with the "crew" to do the beer/cop thing with all the pals...he said nope, my wife needs me more this weekend...I understood, enough said...I'm not "here" much but I miss him more every day it seems...p/s...I got ur cd ready but I lost ur e-mail...(i didn't forget)...and give Dylan a firm handshake and a firmer hug for me...

Hey, I sure hope its a lot warmer there, cause I am freezing here I am so not used to the snow any more...... anyway its only for a while then hopefully this phase will be over and the new year will bring great things for us.. everything will be fresh and new so we do feel that the good Lord is blessing us in so many ways. I just always hope that what takes place is with your stamp of approval. I like to think it is since we get som hints.. or at least I trick myself into thinking they are....Well X-mas is just about here and another year if you can believe it..

Love you and miss you lots...

I was just sitting here thinking about the whole gang. What would it have been like had you guys been still together. Think the drug problem would have died down! You sure were on the tail of some top "ones". That's what made you guys fearful. We know you're with us in spirit but how we miss you on the streets. It's definitely not the same with some of you boys and "men" of course. You made a big difference. Seeing some of the old faces still around makes me wonder what it would be like nowadays with you all still here, what a fearsome department it would have been. Help me to tell them to hang in there. They've got what it takes to keep going stronger and to get better. They are the few, the proud, men and women of GPD. I wish they knew that that they are very helpful and supportive because of their expertise even though things aren't at their best now. I hope they feel the excitement and adreneline you had when you put on that uniform. I just wanted to thank you again for helping this community. Things could have been worse but because of your heroic actions (making the decision to help even though you were sick that day) and (choosing to enter the trailer with your brothers), you saved lives that day. It could have been anybody, other officers, but God chose you that day. He saw in you, bravery and confidence and boldness because you were a hero and will always be a hero. WE MISS YOU!

Hi there,

We get the message I know you have been hanging around a lot lately and we appreciate it.... We love our new addition to the family he is the most adorable baby ever even if he was the runt of the litter I have a feeling he is going to be great and Lexi already loves him.

Dylans party went great he loved all the things he got and everyone loved the new house.. Can you believe he is now 8 going on 28... wish you could have been, remember the time you were playing his guitar on his 1st b-day and I caught you on video it was so funny I still laugh when I see it...
I could go on about all the things that made me laugh but I keep those memories in my heart and mind everyday

Love you with all my heart soul body mind and money Baby...

Another birthday for you and Dylan. Some of the "old" gang here sent a birthday card and certificate to Dylan for his birthday. Wow, 7 years old. I pray God's blessings continue on Dylan and Erica. You are not forgotten.

You are a true hero and will never be forgotten by those who love you nor will the Blue Family ever let that happen. Keep watch over your loved ones and protect them. Also, keep watch over those still out on patrol guarding the Thin Blue Line.

I know it's a couple days early, but I wanted to wish you a happy birthday. I've been quite busy with my new job and probably won't get the chance on your actual birthday so I thought I'd send birthday wishes early. As always, look for that "special birthday tribute." I hadn't been to this site for some time now but you are always in my thoughts. I will remember you always. Miss you alot. My prayers go out to your family as they are in my thoughts as well.

I remember the first time we went on a call together, both of us on FTO we walked up to a domestic and you had that huge flash light in your left back pocket and your gloves in your right back pocket and you were just ready to handle anything. Everytime I think of you I see you standing in front of that apartment and I miss eating with you at the truck stop, I'll always remember you bro and miss you!! Erica if you read this let me tell you he loved you and talked about you even before you guys dated while we ate at the truck stop!!!

Hi there I know it has been a long time...things have been interesting around here. Japan was the most incredible place ever. Just I imagined it, green, breathtaking and beatiful. We had a great time there and I am so glad Dylan got to experience this even though I am not sure he fully appreciates it just yet but he will as he gets older....

Can you believe he is going into 2nd grade.. we were are the store the other day and I instinctively picked up a 1st grade supply list until I was reminded that he was not a 1st grader any more! Time has really moved and I am still sad to know that you are not here sharing in any of it with us what a shame..... I know you would have enjoyed life even as crazy and scary as it is.

Watch over us and ask the good Lord to bless us in our upcoming endevours and keep us all safe..

We miss you so very much always.

Sometimes looking at your picture, it's hard to believe you are really gone. To think that I actually got to work with you and talked with you makes it harder. But I know you've earn your spot with the elite. Knowing you are with God makes things a little comforting. Please look over your friends and keep them safe for you are our guardian angel now.

Missing you always,

A friend/co-worker.
