Detective Sumner died as a result of injuries when his patrol car was involved in a collision at Washington Avenue and Ripley Street. The driver of the other vehicle was charged with manslaughter.

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
