The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord;
he is their stronghold in time of trouble.
The Lord helps them and delivers them;
he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
because they take refuge in him.

Sergeant Richard "Sam" Howard: "Thanks" seems so little to say, but any other fancy or more eloquent words seem equally so woefully inadequate to express what your life and service meant to your community and to our profession...I know the pain experienced by supervisors when they lose "one of their people", so "thanks" also for your fidelity in "being there" for Officer Matthew Baxter on what would be your final call. As both a police officer and a supervisor, you "kept the faith". And if your wife and child should ever read this, I equally say to them, "thanks" - thanks for sharing your husband or your father with your community, with our profession - with Officer Matthew Baxter - ...with all of "us". I pray that in the midst of your pain, you may also find some small comfort in the pride of knowing that Sergeant Howard, in being there with Officer Baxter, was doing his best to take care of "one of his kids".
Rest In Peace, Sergeant Richard "Sam" Howard.

NC Officer
