God, filled with mercy, dwelling in the heavens' heights,
bring proper rest beneath the wings of your Lord,
amid the ranks of the holy and the pure,
illuminating like the brilliance of the skies the soul of
Stephen Ballard who went to his eternal place of rest.
May You who are the source of mercy shelter him beneath Your wings eternally,
and bind his soul among the living, that he may rest in peace. And let us say: Amen.

The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord;
he is their stronghold In time of trouble.
The Lord helps them and delivers them;
he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
because they take refuge in him

May God watch over the Family and Fellow Officers that put their lives on the line for us everyday. We all lose when one of these heroes fall. And this one was a terrible loss. A man who without care for his own safety did such a noble thing. I hope his family will find some type of peace during this time of mourning. God will not let them down. Keep Faith and know he is in a better place.

A Prayer for Corporal First Class Stephen J. Ballard:

Lord God of mercy, peace, and love, we remember before You in this moment our Brother-in-Blue, Corporal First Class Stephen J. Ballard, of the Delaware State Police, who sacrificed his life in the Line-of-Duty. We recall with gratitude and respect all that he stood for in this life. Help us to live in the companionship of his spirit. May we be kind to the family, friends, and colleagues he loved; devoted to the state in which he served; and loyal to the causes which he championed in law enforcement. Thus, in our life, may he live on, to our great comfort, to the betterment of Your creation, and to the furthering of Your most Holy Will. Amen.
