Going down with the ship or dying with your boots on...nothing can fully capture the valor and courage of the men and women who put their lives on the line every day to protect the communities they serve. Chief Gibson is one such officer, and my heart hurts for his loss to his family, his friends, and to his community. He's an example of one who served and sacrificed at his own expense. He holds a special place in my mind along with others like him who demonstrate through their lives what dedication and sacrifice are.

God keep. Chief Gibson dedicated his life to Law Enforcement and serving his community. Instead of retiring after 20 years he came out of retirement to lead another Department and continue to serve his community. It cost him his life. We can all be grateful and honor this Law Enforcement Professional. God Bless and comfort this fine man's family and friends in this tragic time.

Greenville SC City Police Dept.

God speed brother. Thank you for taking me under your wing so many years ago at GCSO. I was just a dumb intern, but you put up with me and encouraged my path in law enforcement.
