Avenue of the Fallen

Standing at attention in their class “A“uniforms, badges gleaming and shoes like glass, are your brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement. All of whom have previously paid the ultimate price.
Today, like many others, they welcome you to this wonderful place.
As you march down the Avenue of the Fallen, all eyes focus on you as if to say “it’s OK, you’re with your eternal partners.”
A salute is followed and a tear can be seen on so many faces.
Welcome, you served well.
Now come join us in the ranks, another is coming home.

Dear Landon:

I can’t believe this horrific act has occurred yet again. Well will this carnage end? This has to be one of the worst years in recent history for police officers and their families. Thank you for your service and dedication, and the sacrifice your family now has to make because of scum. Fortunately that bastard is no longer here. “For the candle of the wicked shall be put out forever”. But no more about that vermin.
It hurts so bad to know a young widow now faces the world alone, without her soulmate. I’m certain that every holiday season for the rest of her life will bear pain like none ever experienced before. Landon, so many Americans live every day of their lives, never knowing what sacrifices we in law enforcement make for them. So many of our fellow countrymen get to enjoy the American gifts of freedom, live, liberty and the pursuit of happiness because of people like you. The wolf cried at the door, and you answered it. And because you answered that cry, those same Americans will thankfully never know what it’s like to experience that pain.
“Protect and serve”; some same it’s an overused adage. We, in law enforcement say it’s a code we live by. As you entered the Kingdom of Heaven, I am certain our Heavenly Father greeted you with the words, “Welcome Home, Landon”. Your sacrifice and dedication to the job to the best of your ability shall always serve as a credit not only to you as a law enforcement officer, but to the family that raised you and taught you to put others before yourself.
Many years ago, upon my graduation from the Police Academy, my late Dad said these words to me, words I lived my career by and still treasure, and I give them to you; “Above all else, honor”. Rest in peace my brother, we have the watch. Our Blue Line gets stretched and tested every day, but the line holds, now and forever.

Sgt. Ron Tomassi, (Retired)
Lake Mary, (Fl) Police

God love you, Landon Weaver's family. End Of Watch 12-30-16.
