To All Law Enforcement Officers, Law Enforcement Dispatchers, and other Civil Employees: Having been a civilian employee for thirty years, now retired, I am sitting here reading of another Officer/Trooper killed in the Line of Duty, with tears running down my face. I started in Law Enforcement at the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office in 1979 - 1984, as a Records/Statistical Clerk. We would listen to the calls being dispatched and it was very seldom we heard a man with a gun call. We would freeze until we heard the officers were not harmed. Now, it seems that almost every call there are weapons involved. I moved on to the Corrections Investigations Bureau/Sex Offender Registration, and retired from the Murray City Prosecutor/Attorney's Office in 2011. Too many great Officers, including Corrections Officers, have lost their lives this year. Three here in the state of Utah and also one K-9 Officer, Aldo. In the coming year, 2017, I hope and pray, these senseless killings of people trying to protect us all, stop. I pray for all the surviving family members, friends, and co-workers of all Fallen Officers that they will find Peace of Mind in knowing their Fallen Officer was doing what he/she loved, protecting our fellow citizens. May God Bless us all in the coming year, with Peace, Safety, and More Love and Understanding for One Another.

God, filled with mercy, dwelling in the heavens' heights,
bring proper rest beneath the wings of your Lord,
amid the ranks of the holy and the pure,
illuminating like the brilliance of the skies the soul of Landan Weaver, who went to his eternal place of rest.
May You who are the source of mercy shelter him beneath Your wings eternally,
and bind his soul among the living, that he may rest in peace. And let us say: Amen.

We worked together just two years, but after 35 years in this position, I knew from the beginning you had something special. So driven and respected, I often wondered how you worked full time and went to college full time as well. Your text before Christmas reminded me of all the good times we had together. You have left an in print on my soul, and I am praying for your wife Macy and your family. May god bless Trooper Landon Weaver, you followed your heart and being a trooper was your dream. So many proud of you.
