My condolences to the family of Deputy Sheriff Carl Koontz

Please keep in mind God’s promise at Revelation 21:4 where he said "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

May your household find peace and comfort in knowing sickness, pain and death will one day be gone for this has been promised.

Another sad day in Law Enforcement. Thoughts and Prays to the family and the Department

Final Call

An Angel In The Sky Must Leave His Place Of Rest,
Gently Tucking His Wings Beneath His Armored Vest.
For Duty Has Called, There Is Much Work To Do
Little Did He Know, This One Is Dressed In Blue.
Arriving On The Scene, He Knows Just What To Say,
Follow Me, Fallen Brother, I'll Show You The Way.
Your Duty Has Ended, Your Work Is Now Through.
Come Hand Your Hat Beside Mine. I'm A Cop, Too.

May the sacrifice Deputy Sheriff Carl A. Koontz made remind all officers of just how vulnerable we all are. When an officer falls in the line of duty, a piece of every officer dies, as we are all bonded by who and what we represent. May his death help guide the new and the seasoned down that path we have chosen, serving and protecting. Be proud of who he was and let none of us forget. Rest easy HERO!

Carl, You will be missed everyday for the hundreds of students at Northwestern School, where you nurtured then or befriended them. You will be missed by your friends and family, especially your wife and son, who will grown up knowing that his daddy was a hero and died a hero's death. You will be missed by your co-workers that always had an appreciation to your dedication and the pride you took in your job.In the coming days they will learn to have a deeper appreciation for that dedication. You will be missed by the community at large, mostly from the ones who had never had the great opportunity to have met you so they too could have known and have that real appreciation for you and the job you did. I for one will miss you. I will miss you because as I see an officer like you coming up into the ranks it makes me feel safer and securer that there really are a next generation of police officers that give it all on the line when called to do so. Carl you will be missed, but not forgotten. Your short time on the HCSD will influence many others to take notice and somehow step up and do the right thing....because you showed them.

A police officer should be remembered not by how he died, but how he lived! A great man has gone to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you to you, your family and the Howard County Sheriff's Office. Rest in Peace Brother.
