I will miss you Carl. Yesterday was the hardest day of my life. I never thought I would loose someone in the line of duty that I knew. I was lucky enough to have known you for a few of the 8 years I spent at CCSO as an explorer. You were always a very happy person with a big smile and that is how I will remember you. I will miss you brother. Rest in peace we have the watch.

You arrived hoping to help. You wanted nothing more than to make sure everyone was safe and away from danger. A scumbag changed all that.

In this day and age when police/sheriffs are the immediate and easy target of outrage and hatred, just how many really care about guys like you, who try to do the right thing and get killed over it? It's so easy to attack the law enforcement community these days, either verbally or physically and sometimes it seems like no one cares.

Well, your family cares. Not just your family at home (your wife and children-for whom we are ALL praying) but your extended family. Those in the Carson City Sheriff's Office, in Nevada, in the entire United States and the family that extends world wide.

We are all mourning, we are all hurting. We lost a Brother and we all know that at any moment, it could be us. We feel the pain that all who know and love you best feel. It may not be as intense, but it's there.

May God Bless you and may your eternal rest be peaceful, Brother.
