Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Bryan Marshall Berger

Bry…I sit here now, a few min before midnight and it will be eight years. It still hurts, but I am doing my best to live for you.
God, I miss you. Every day.
I will forever love you!

Miss you Bry! My Hero My brother! Noone else may not know but I know all the years since we were kids, all the fun we had over the years. I will never forget our last conversation a few days before you left us, our last talk you asked me to look after mom and dad. That they needed us and u were there when noone else was. I felt safe and secured, couldn't wait for that ride with you that you were so excited to achieve. Even though some we had to impress, we slowly grew up and had our own lives and family. But I will never give up on what I promised to help do. I will always be your sister and you will always be my brother. You were never embarrassed of me. Love and miss you deeply. Always and forever. Christine squires, your little sister by adoption since birth.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Bryan died.

To the Berger family, fellow deputies, and all who call Bryan beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Deputy Berger gave to his community and the citizens of Virginia, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on April 28, 2014.
