I just don't have the words for this senseless taken of a human life. After 26 years of working in all kinds of correctional institutions, I can only imagine what may have been going through her mind while being attacked by that piece of garbage. Rest In Peace Amanda Baker and condolence to your family and friends ...

I was one of OFC Baker's professors. I only knew her a short time, but I adopted her into my correctional family (previously corrections for 8.5 years prior to teaching). OFC Baker was proud of her job at the detention center. She was studying criminal justice and nursing. She wanted to combine the two and become a nurse at a correctional facility. OFC Baker was a devoted mother who cared dearly for her child. Amanda, I will truly miss you. I am so very honored to have known you the short time I did. I wish things had turned out so very differently for you. My thoughts will be forever with your son, family, friends, other loved ones, and correctional family. Thank you for your service. Rest now, sister, the rest of us have it from here.
