My sincere condolences go out to the famiy of fallen Pontiac, MI Police Orfficer Casey Kohlmeier and Draco. I am sure the entire community mourns the death of a fine police officer who lost his life just yesterday and so did his canine companion. It is a sad thing whenever a police officer loses his life in the line of duty. Not just the police department mourns but the whole community mourns as well because he was serving and protecting his community from harm. That is what all police officers do everyday. Though they go out and risk their lives everyday and that is what being a police officer is all about. When ever a police officer dies in the line of duty, it brings out police officers from everywhere to pay their last respects to the fallen officer. Not just the police officers attend the funeral so does the District Attorney and his or her staff, judges, public defenders, state senators and state representatives, representatives from the U.S. Senators who represent the state the police officer is from and the list goes on of all who attend a police funeral. May the good lord be with his family and the police department he served as well as the City of Pontiac, MI.

For Police Officer Casey Kohlmeier:

The law-officer on patrol is regularly on one of the most dangerous of battlefields - a United States highway. None of us who patrol is ever safe when performing our duty among the many vehicles traversing the roadway. We regret that our brother Casey would be the next fatality during the cavalcade-of-carnage that continues to be present day and night across the country.
We pray for Casey's family, friends, co-workers, and all those who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to one another during this time.
We'll remember Draco as the friend that he was to the end doing what so many canines do for all of us in law enforcement.
We are proud to render a final salute to both of these law-enforcers as noble soldiers-of-the-law.

Cpl. Ralph D. Fiorenza (Ret.)
Pennsylvania State Police
