Rob,

You were here yesterday. You are gone today. I am attempting to remain stoic and endure in the face of your loss, because that is what I think you would want. It is difficult. A few days ago I stopped to get coffee and chat with you at the familiar service station where you always worked secondary. Now I wish I stopped and talked to you more often. When you worked nights you would appear in Baker District when we needed you. I hope that you felt as safe around me as I did you. My crew and I respected you because you always put in work. You were killed putting in work.

My heart and soul ache in paralysis for you and your family.

My heart breaks for Officer Bingaman's family, friends & co-workers. Unfortunately a little over 12 years ago, I woke up in the morning not realizing that less than 12 hours later I would be standing in the hospital parking lot with my pastor telling me that my loved one had been killed in the line of duty. It is a long, oftentimes lonely road that none of us want to travel, but I pray God will wrap his loving arms around the Bingaman family & carry them through all of their days ahead. Thanks for your service, Officer Bingaman for your service to the City of Asheville.
