Jerry McCarthy was The Grove City College security officer who took me to the hospital after the incident that caused the injuries that led to my retirement from the Grove City Police Department. He always wanted to be a Police Officer, he worked at my department part time for a while and was able to get hired full time as a County Detective in Lawrence Co. PA. He also was a part-time police officer for Shenango Twp Lawrence Co. PA. Last night he was killed in the line of duty doing what he loved and always wanted to do, being a cop. Rest in Peace Jerry, and thank you for the backup you provided me over the years.

MESSAGE FROM JERRY
I know your hearts are heavy and you miss having me there
But I'm with God in heaven where no one has a care
I just shook hands with Moses, I met John and Peter too
Now I am enjoying a body that's brand new
It really was amazing when I walked through the gate
I saw the beauty of this place and I could hardly wait
To come into the presence of the Father and the Son
Hearing him say to me the priceless words WELL DONE!
I know some still have anger about the way I died
But God sees and bottles every tear you cry
As difficult as it may be please don't hold a grudge
Remember this my loved ones God alone will judge
Soon we will be together never more to part
Until then just remember I'm as close as your heart

My heart goes out to the families of this brave man. He like our armed foreces had decided to put his life up between us and the darkness and gave all to help keep it at bay. Not only his life but in some measure the lives of his family too. I pray that he and they find peace and comfort from all those around him and from the Lord who is our strength in these crises. I am just a civilian, but I have worked around many Officers and know that we owe an incredible debt to all of our men and women who stand between us and the chaos that could be. Thank you Officer McCarthy for your service, dedication, and sacrifice from this humble civilian.
