Rest in peace brother, we have the watch now. Thank you for your years of service to the Jackson Police Dept and the United States. God bless the family, friends, and co-workers (especially his wife) of Detective Smith during this time of tragic loss. Jackson, MS is a very dangerous town for police officers as there have been numerous ambushes of officers in the past and now this murder. Hopefully, this will be a wake up call for officers to not carry their weapons into the interview rooms unless they have a backup officer immediately present to avoid this type of tragedy occurring in the future. Please, let's all be safe.

Deputy Sheriff Donnie Meaders
Seminole County (OK) Sheriff's Dept

May God grant you eternal rest. May he also give your family, friends, and co-workers the strength they need to get through the rough days ahead. Rest easy brother, we will take it from here.

FALLEN HEROES
From the time I was conceived God had for me a plan
He wanted me to get involved to help my fellow man
I know some were against it but God knows what is best
Now I am at home with him in perfect peace and rest
Heaven is so beautiful I'm walking streets of gold
And spending time with Abraham and all the saints of old
As difficult as it may be please don't hold a grudge
Remember this my loved ones God alone will judge
Then on that resurrection day when all the dead will rise
The Lord will reunite us together in the skies
Soon we will be together never more to part
Until then just remember I'm as close as your heart
