My condolences to Ms. Morales and your twin children as well as to the men and women of the St. Lucie Sheriff's Department. Although I did not know Sgt. Morales personally I can tell you that his photo tells me he was a caring and decent human being. The death of Sgt. Morales have caused great pain to his wife and children, as well as his brothers and sisters in the Law Enforcement Community; especially his family at the St. Lucie Sheriff's Department.

To everyone that loved and cared for Gary in life please honor him in death by supporting his brothers and sisters left behind in law enforcement to defend us from the nasty villians of our soceity.

Forgive me for my personal note:

To All Law Enforcement Officers - Be Safe and always be cognizant of your entire surrounding. Look up every 3-5 seconds when typing out a form or ticket, and keep your windows down and turn off any unnessary distractions so as to avoid anyone coming up on you undected. Consider placing all cellular phones on vibrate at all times when working. Also become cognizant with the Naval Term "Crazy Ivan" and incorporate a modified version while on patrol as well as when leaving work to go home. Also, every single time you go to work you must always tell yourself " I came to work in one piece and I will go home in one piece."

Be Safe.

New York State Police

......on Sgt. Gary Morales St. Lucie S.O. and Air Force Veteran Military War Dog Handler; LODD 2/28/13 American and Florida Hero

All in Florida, All in the Air Force, All in the K-9 world, All in the law-enforcement world, All in ST Lucie S.O. grieve and mourn this tragic loss. His killers evil act took Sgt. Morales and also placed a razor to the throats of all in law abiding society and left more victims, a family, a Sheriff's Department and its leader -who now experience unimaginable grief. And for his children who will grow up without their Dad, we must not forget this hero or them with our support, prayers and condolences. His presence and full faced smile will be missed by the many he touched, loved and loved him back. . He deserves our Honor and Memory, never to be forgotten. He deserves Justice as we do and we must always pursue it. We must work harder in ways not just outside the 'box' but into the galaxy to think of more and better ways to prevent and cure the murders of our heroes. These haunting words on Tampa Police Memorial echo the words of all who could not say goodbye:
by George Hahn, Los Angeles Police Department, Retired

I never dreamed it would be me,
my name for all eternity, recorded
here at the hallowed place, alas,
my name, no more my face.

"In the line of duty" I hear them say,
my family now the price to pay,
my folded flag stained with their tears,
we only had those few short years.

The badge no longer on my chest,
I sleep now in eternal rest, my sword
I pass to those behind, and pray they
keep this thought in mind.

I never dreamed it would be me,
and with heavy heart and bended knee,
I ask for all here from the past;
Dear God, let my name be the last.

I have laid down my life in service to all of you.
I have been a part of the fabric that has held the line between your safety and your victimization. I have given my life so that others may live in peace. I have lived my life as a dedicated member of the greatest profession. There is no greater honor.

As I now become a part of the rich history of law enforcement, please remember me always for I have left behind those who loved and depended upon me.
My partners and my agency, please remember my family, their loss, and don’t let time soften your compassion for them.

You guard the gate now and I will continue my watch from above.

MAY YOU REST IN PEACE AND MAY YOUR FAMILY FIND COMFORT IN THE GOOD YOU HAVE DONE HERE ON EARTH.

Sergeant Gary Morales, your work on this sometimes evil earth is done.... We'll take over from here and continue the good fight that you fought so diligently. May GOD richly bless your wife, children, and your law enforcement family.

To all that knew and worked with Sergeant Morales, please hold onto each other. You're going to need each other and Sergeant Morales' wife and children are going to need you. Each of you are very strong, otherwise you wouldn't be in law enforcement. This experience, though, is our most feared, confusing, painful, and emotionally taxing event that cops can experience. Many others, including I, have walked in your shoes. It seems like just yesterday that a co-worker and close friend of mine, Deputy Richard Keith Bellar, was shot and killed by a coward while sitting in his patrol vehicle, much like Sergeant Morales was.

We are the survivors left behind and it's our duty to continue forging ahead, just like Sergeant Morales, Deputy Bellar, and the thousands of others that have made the ultimate sacrifice would expect us to do.

Please Be Safe!!!
