TO THE FAMILY, FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES OF CAPTAIN LEIDEN DEFUSCO.

My heart is filled with great sadness at the lost of your loved one and fellow Officer.
We in the law enforcement community are a family.
Whether you pin a Badge, a Shield, or a Star upon your chest.
Whether you work in a small town or large city.
Whether you work in Detention Facilities or out on Patrol.
Whether active duty or retired, we are family, a law enforcement family, a brotherhood, a band of brothers having walked the line of good over evil knowing that at any moment in the course of performing our duties the ultimate sacrifice might be required of us in the service to our community.
For Law Enforcement is not a job but a calling and only a few will make the decision to commit to that calling to serve for some will give all that they have.

I commend you my fallen brother for making the ultimate sacrifice in the performance of your duty.
For you left us doing what you chose to do.
Performing a job you were trained to do.
Upholding the oath you swore to do.
Most importantly doing what you loved to do.........serving your community making a better and safer place for us all.

FINAL CALL
CAPTAIN DEFUSCO STATUS.........CAPTAIN DEFUSCO STATUS.........CAPTAIN DEFUSCO STATUS.........

As you departed the bonds of this earth and touched the face of God, know that the service and dedication you had for your community, its fellow officers and the citizens of your community will never be forgotten.  May God comfort in this time of sorrow your family, your fellow officers and all those whose lives you have touched.  You have served your time in hell, now rest comfortably in the arms of God.  We'll take it from here.

Police Officer's Prayer to St. Michael

Saint Michael, heaven's glorious commissioner of police,
who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises
of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional
eyes on your earthly force.

Give us cool heads, stout hearts, and uncanny flair for
investigation and wise judgement.

Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and
law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores,
strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.

You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences
with the devil that the police officer's lot on earth is not
always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so
pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the
devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.

And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your
heavenly force, where we will be as proud to guard the
throne of God as we have been to guard the city of all
the people. Amen.

Captain DeFusco, You now are in the presence of God. Surrounded by His love and peace. Surrounded also by all those who have gone before you. Enjoy that reunion.

For Your Family,

Since the day of my son's death, I have fallen to my knees first thing every morning and prayed for every law enforcement officer and their family. On my knees every morning - during that time I pray, “Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with loving, caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name, Amen"

Yesterday was no exception.

I have lifted you and your family to God every morning for 18 months. Feel those prayers. God is with you, feel His presence. He knows and will ease your pain.

May family & friends feel the presence of the "God of All Comfort" as they endure the distressing days ahead. I join them in their grief & remember them in my prayers.
