Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Brian Edward Hayden

RIP Brother

Deputy Anita Price
Bexar County Sheriff's Office, San Antonio, Texas

April 22, 2012

Brian,
Im still in shock over finding out !!! I drove down the night of and spent it with tabby, your mom and dad, and meet jon there. I have no words to describe how much you affected peoples lives. You always had my back and told me as much a number of times on tracks, building searches or anything we would be doing working our dogs. You made me laugh constantly and I thank you for that. We constantly talked "Dog stuff" togeher and picked each others brains, but no matter the conversation you always brought tabby into it, in a good way, and relayed how very very special she was to you. Always wanting to be her provider and what was the best and safest for her, even if you didnt agree you were there to support her. She was the light of your life and Im so proud to have had you both in my life. I feel like Im rambling, in 4 days I will be bury one of my best friends. Please know that you paid the ultimate sacrafice for the job and the people you love. Brian please be assured its now my time to step in, and continue on with where you left off. Tabby & Jon asked me to handle sampson during your funeral. I am extremely honored to be asked and only hope I do you proud. We (Me and Sampson) will stand watch over you during this time. Until we meet again brother to patrol the streets of heaven together, I will miss you deeply and know your watching and ever vigilant. 2 Timothy 4:7-8

For Deputy Sheriff Brian Hayden:

The law officer in a motor vehicle, responding to an emergency, is placed at a higher risk the moment he activates his quick-response equipment. Despite a high level of caution, he or she can become involved in a horrific crash causing serious injury or death. We regret that Brian would be the next to encounter such a fate. We pray for his family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him.
We are proud to render Deputy Sheriff Brian Hayden, a solider-of-the-law, a final salute.

Cpl. Ralph D. Fiorenza (Ret.)
Pennsylvania State Police

Reading all of these reflections shows what a great man you were and the lives that you touched. Law enforcement is not all about catching the bad guys, it is also about community and high values. You had all of this. You will be greatly missed, Brian. My prayers and thoughts are with your wife and kids. Peace, my brother!

Brian Hayden was the kind of friend that you could go to for anything. Is is also the kind of friend to rip you a new one when you weren't thinking, such as him yelling at my sister and I for leaving our door wide open while we were both asleep! His friendship and constructive criticism helped mold me into a better person. I am truely shocked at the news and will pray for his family. Goodbye Brian, you 'Aimed Higher' then any of us could even hope to achieve. You will be truly missed by all whose lives you have touched! Love, lil sis, Michelle.
