Having lost our son (Deputy Kyle Dinkheller) on January 12, 1998 in Laurens County, Georgia. My wife and I would like to express our sympathies and condolences to Agent Francom's family and friends as well as his fellow officers and their families.

A Part Of America Died

Somebody killed a policeman today
And a part of America died...
A piece of our country he swore to protect
Will be buried with him at his side.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too,
Just as if he had gone off to war;
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half-mast
To his name they will add a gold star.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court
With counsel demanding his rights,
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids
And spend many long, lonely nights.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today...
Maybe in your town or mine,
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors
A cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks the beat on a dark city street,
And he stands at each new rookie's side;
He answered the call... of himself gave his all,
And a part of America died...

My deepest and most sincere condolences on the loss of Agent Jared Francom . We share a bond in life and a tear in grief whenever a law enforcement officer falls in the line of duty. My heartfelt sympathies to the Ogden Police Department as well as Officer Francom's family. I know his brothers and sisters in the law enforcement community grieve his loss; it matters not how he died but rather that he made the sacrifice the day he donned the uniform and the badge. God rest his soul and grant eternal life.

What can anyone say? How can we ever thank our officers, fallen and still serving enough for the sacrifices they make for all of us daily? How can we ever thank their families enough for what they also sacrifice? May God bless you with love strength and comfort always.
