Reflections for Sergeant Steven Rickie Kenner

Rest in peace Sergeant Kenner. Your family will be in my prayers and thank you for your dedication to the City of Bismarck.

It is with shock and great sadness to hear of Steve's death in the line of duty. I've had occasion to work with him in the field of forensic reconstruction. Even with over 30 years of LE, he was still continuing to learn the latest in technology in documentation. I enjoyed having him in class, speaking with him by phone, and just having coffee. Our deepest sympathies to his family, friends and colleagues. May the good Lord grant strength to all of them during this difficult time. He will be greatly missed.

I met Steve while I was riding with my FTO in Bismarck last summer. I really enjoyed talking with Steve that day. He was very down to earth, friendly, and was a person that I had instant respect for. Condolences to his family and fellow officers.

RIP Officer Kenner, It was a pleasure to have met you those few times I got the chance. BPD has lost one if its finest in you. May you now patrol the heavens above knowing that your fellow Brothers and Sisters on BPD and all other agencies in ND take over watch of the good citizens and your family in this time of sorrow.

As a trainer we have a motto of keeping the wall bare, but we cannot control the evil persons that do what they do and for what? Prayers are with the family, friends and department and city residents in this time of need.

There will never be enough THANK YOUs, there will never be enough I'M SORRYs to alleviate the sadness that Sgt Kenner's family is facing right now. All that I can say is that while I was growing up there, he was on duty, watching over my family and my friends, and that is a debt that I can never repay him for... Sergeant Steven Kenner, you have paid the ultimate price for shielding such a beautiful city from so many evils. All that I can do now is pray for you. I will pray for your family, and pray that they find just a small measure of peace in knowing that you were, and will always be, a HERO. Rest easy, sir, your watch is over now...

I was shocked to say the least when I arrived to work this morning to hear the news. On several occasions Sgt. Kenner would pull up just to chat if I was working the outer limits of the city. I didn't know him well but he seemed so kind and caring and really enjoyed his job the few times I spoke with him. We will never forget you Sgt. Kenner. R.I.P.
