Sgt Steven Kenner you were a class act! More than once we had to call on the Bis PD for help with unruly people and more than once you were that officer who responded. Consistenly the BPD was there to help, but you were the one who always stood out! You were always fair and respectful and your smile and laugh were as big as your imposing stature. Rest in peace, and may God bring comfort to your family and fellow officers.

There are really no words that can make this horrible situation any better. It seems so surreal that a great man is gone. I was fortunate enough to spend time with Sgt. Kenner during many FOP functions. I was looking forward to going to Salt Lake City with him in August.

He was always looking out for the rest of us. Spending countless hours making sure that our brothers and sisters in blue were taken care of. Always the first one to stand up for a fellow officer in their time of need and provide assistance, whatever that may be. Now its our turn to be there when his family is in need.

Thank you Steve for everything. Thank you for making me laugh. Thank you for your knowledge, compassion and dedication. Thank you for never backing down when you knew something was worth fighting for. Thank you for selflessly giving your life for the people and community you loved.

Rest In Peace.

We spoke 10 hours before you paid ultimate sacrafice! You helped so many and asked for nothing in return. You are a great example of how to lead in this profession, and in life. Your legacy will live on in your agency and family. Thanks for being my friend, and Brother in FOP!!

I was assigned to Sgt. Kenner's shift when I first hired on with the Bismarck P.D. He was everything a great Sergeant should be; patient, supportive, trustworthy, knowledgeable, approachable, and decisive. While working today there were numerous interactions with citizens of Bismarck, many of whom knew and respected Sgt. Kenner and many expressed their sincere condolences at the loss of a wonderful and dedicated man. The city is grieving, rightfully so.

Rest in peace, Sergeant Kenner.

Sgt. Kenner, my friend! It was an HONOR to work with you! I remember when I started at the PD (23 years ago) you were always there for me and all the officers, especially the new recruits. You took them under your wing and always ensured you imparted upon them your knowledge and expertise. It is because of your love and dedication to your agency and all those you worked with that we have such great officers. Although you are gone from ths world, I know you will watch over us and you will NEVER be forgotten!!

Steve gave 32 years of his life to protect the city of Bismark and his family gave that as well...RIP my friend..we all have a new guardian angel on our shoulder.

I remember Steve's first day on the job at BPD. As a Reserve Officer, I found Steve was "the" guy to ride with. Always headed for the action. I even recruited him into the ND National Guard and watched as he made his way through OCS and was comissioned as a 2nd Lt. He was always there for my wife and family while I was in Honduras for the Army. He was a true mentor for me as a rookie Reserve Officer.

Steve was always one of the best, and would go out of his way to help anyone, anytime. I will always have some of the fondest memories of our nights on the streets.

Goodby my Friend. God just needed another angel for a different assignment. Say Hi to Lea.
