Charles A. Van Meter- you will be missed. To his family, friends and BCSO, you are in my prayers. I did not have the pleasure of calling him "my friend" but as a citizen I will say that he is probably the nicest officer I have ever met. I have been assisted by Deputy Van Meter on a few occasions. The first time I met him he had been dispatched to our home after the carbon monoxide detectors went crazy. As a precaution we got all people and animals outside to wait for the Fire Dept. He was so helpful and very impressed that we had done what you are supposed to in that instance. Luckily it was a false alarm. He gave me his card and said that if we ever needed anything to please call. I still have his card in my wallet. He patrolled our neighborhood regularly. I will miss
chatting with him and seeing him breeze by with a wave and smile. My heart is especially heavy to know that he was taken, just down the street and on my birthday. RIP Van Meter

You will never know how sorry i am and forever will be not telling you more often how special you have always been to me, for as many times as you have told me and show me how special i was, i should have told you twice as many.. you were supposed to be my Captain and we were supposed to go to law school together! i will never forget anything we ever shared. You have a major piece of my soul and i will be empty until we meet again and you can tease me somemore about how much of a smartass we both are. You had such big plans.. Gods were bigger i guess and i have faith in that.. Ill miss our Family Guy slumber party marathons and you nearly catching me on fire in your kitchen and instead catching your tickets on fire on the counter! Thank you for every amazing memory i have of you.. I love you soooo much "VanMeter"
