Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Charles Allen VanMeter

VanMeter,
You were such a great man and hero. You always were courageous! You were such a joker and always had a smile on your face no matter what the case was. You wore your uniform and badge proud. I could never stop laughing at your jokes and your incredibly funny sense of humor.

You were there where we feared to be
You have seen what we have feared to see
You have done what we fear to do
All these things you did for everyone

You were the one we leaned upon
The one we brought our troubles to
All these things, were because of you

You served and protected and stood by your word
May you rest in peace!

Charles was a co-worker of mine and I was proud to call him my friend. Charles was a person of great integrity and had on several occasions told me how much he loved working for the Brazoria County Sheriff Office. I was very proud to mentor Charles the first few years of his career and enjoyed watching him mature into the professional he was. I'll never forget the conversation we had when he told me he decided to join the SRT. More so, Ill never forget the big smile and the look of accomplishment in his eyes when he came over to my house after he passed his Basic SWAT School. I will miss you Charles, but never forget you...you are my SWAT brother and County Brown forever! Rest in peace brother we will handle your calls from here.

I couldn't believe what I was reading. I couldn't, for the world, think of a reason that He would take you so soon. With that contageous smile and sweet heart of yours, I realized...I couldn't think of anyone that would make a better Angel. Fly high, Vanmeter

We'll remember the day you passed away. Although we loved you dearly, we couldn't make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, bright eyes laid to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best!

May God look over and give your family the strength they will need to make it through this difficult and sorrowful time!
