I had the opportunity to meet Deputy Hooper on a call of a suspicious vehicle near the Greene,Clark Co.line. After we checked the area we sat and talked for awhile. Deputy Hopper impressed me as someone who loved her job and enjoyed what she was doing. In just that short time I talked to her, she was easy going and laughed alot. I know that her Brother and Sister Deputies have lost a good friend and a fine Officer. My prayers go with you and her family and know that the rest of her fellow Officers also feel the loss. May God be with you all.

Retired Deputy Sheriff Beth Martin
Greene County Sheriffs Deppartment

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

RIP Sister Hopper!

For she is a wife, mother, and a cop,
Who earned her place, at the very top
she is one in a million, from all the rest,
tough and fair, the very best.

I had the great privilege of working with Suzanne for several years while in Springfield. The relationship between local, county, and state law enforcement was the best I had ever experienced. I truly feel that no specific uniform was recognized, we were all one family. It is fitting that all agencies were represented in this incident and all feel the grief and sense of loss as we try and make sense of this senseless tragedy. Suzanne had a wonderful personality and was able to make people feel at ease. It was easy to like Suzanne and she was an asset to the Clark County Sheriff's Office. My thoughts and prayers go out to all my brothers and sisters at the sheriff's office. You are not alone in your time of mourning. God bless!!!
