For Trooper Duane Dalton:

Our duty as a law officer on patrol takes onto one of the most dangerous of battlefields - a United States highway. It is the scene of continual carnage and it is where we perform our duty in the service to others. Our chance of casualty is increased ten-fold as we expedite in response to calls and engage in dangerous pursuits. Sometimes it is just a simple traffic crash during routine patrol that claims our life. Only our Creator can tell us why - or who might be next.

We pray for Duane's family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him. Many each of them reach-out to comfort one another when the time is appropriate. We pray that each of them remember Duane for all the reasons he brought light into their life. A hero has been called to Eternity.

As a fellow state trooper, I am proud to render Trooper Duane Dalton a final salute.
