Thank you for your dedicated service! You and your husband were my brother's neighbors at one time in Lacey, WA. May your husband and children find peace in knowing you will not be forgotten to the citizen's of WA for your service! My father passed away suddenly on 10/29/09, hope you meet him in heaven where the Lord needed you all the most.

It is with my utmost deep sympathy that I address this terrible loss of a servant that was chosen by God to serve as an official Officer of the Law, and to be suddenly struck down by an act of Satan possessing one that chose to issue such a blow totally uncalculated and without any reason other than to kill police officer's. I wrote the following poem in tribute to you, Officer Tina Griswold, and your three brother's in blue. God bless you as you serve in the heavens as still, one of Gods chosen Angels of the sky! I respectfully render my final salute.

Respectfully,
Michael Rayford Powell

A Special Tribute to Lakewood P.D. Heroes

The day started out like many in their duty tours past
The only thing that changed was a criminals Ambush turning fast
These fine officer’s drinking coffee and performing their work
Was suddenly interrupted by a maniac paying a bill then became a jerk

There wasn’t any justifiable reason for Maurice Clemmons to shoot and kill
The lives of these professional officer’s were taken because of a killer’s vengeful thrill
It takes a sinful coward to do a thing as macabre and heinous as this
Yet one of the officers fought him, shot him trying to pursue a forceful fist

An ex-con gunned down four of Lakewood’s finest a community now in shock
A pursuit to find this devious killer has left many with feelings hard as a rock
Today four families will feel the pain of loss in those that were suddenly taken
Deaths like theirs is much to sudden leaving families with hearts so shaken

Why would anyone desire to ambush Gods Chosen Servants that lay their life on the line?
Each and everyday while serving their community so bravely they risk their all so divine
Serving God and people is their gift to all that know them for who they truly are
A Policeman is a shield from harm and protects me and you both, near and afar

Tomorrow will start without me and I wish somehow I could be at home to see
But should the bright sun rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me
My final wish is that you wouldn’t cry the way I know you did for me today
We’ll be thinking of the many things we somehow never were able to say

I wish to say that I am aware of how much you love me, as much as I love you
I realize how much you’ll miss me and I hope you know I’ll be missing you too
This sick minded vengeful fool divided our lives and now I must truly depart
I’ve descended into heaven, and I’ll remain in your heart, so we’ll never be apart!

Tina, there are no words that I can use to express the sorrow I have in my heart. We have been friends for a long time and have shared some great times together, I will miss that. I have pain in my heart knowing that I will not be able to share many more great memories with you. You were a great friend and outstanding professional who was loved by all you came in contact with. I will pray for your family and do what I can to ensure they are taken care of. I remember just Saturday sitting and eating breakfast with you and enjoying your company, I cry when I think about this. I wish I would've told you then how grateful I am to know you, work with you, and be friends with you. Rest in peace my friend, I will always remember you!

Heroes are not by accidents, they are specially chosen from Above. While others run out, heroes run in. God bless the officers of the Lakewood Police Department, if not for you our wives, children and selves would not be safe. One of your comrades stood to fight when he/she could have jumped under a table. Another fought when he/she could have jumped behind a civilian. To your family, God's speed, with the realization that one who gives their life for another will see the Kingdom of Heaven. Good job, excellent watch.

I know the pain that your family feels right now... trust me, I was there in febuary 2008. My father was gunned down by a man while he was going to get his dinner. To have your world turned upside down in the blink of an eye, the disbelife, and the emptynest. I promise you that it does get better with time and patience. Hold her high in your thoughts and memories and she will always be with you.

I Am the Officer

I have been where you fear to be,
I have seen what you fear to see,
I have done what you fear to do -
All these things I have done for you.

I am the person you lean upon,
The one you cast your scorn upon,
The one you bring your troubles to
All these people I've been for you.

The one you ask to stand apart,
The one you feel should have no heart,
The one you call "The Officer in Blue,"
But I'm just a person, just like you.

And through the years I've come to see,
That I am not always what you ask of me;
So, take this badge...take this gun...
Will you take it...will anyone?

And when you watch a person die
And hear a battered baby cry,
Then do you think that you can be
All these things you ask of me?

The trouble with the laws these days is that criminals know their rights better than their wrongs.

Thank you to all Law Enforcement Agencies Around The World
for what you do to protect each and everyone one of us.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends and co-workers of Officer Tina Griswold, Officer Ronald Owens, Officer Greg Richards and Sgt. Mark Renninger. They are true heroes not because of how they died, but how they lived. I can not understand what motivated their killer to carry out this senseless, unprovoked attack, but I am certain that justice will be carried out, in this life and in the eternity afterward.

To all the families of these fallen officers find comfort within your family and friends. Cry, scream, be angry and love each other. Four brave people gave the ultimate scarafice. Carry them in your hearts for ever. I know I carry my cousin Pat in my heart each day. August 2, 2003 will be forever burned into my heart as yours. You are not alone.
