In the late 80's/early 90's I worked part time for the Campo FD. The FD station is across the street from the BP station in Campo and the USBP agents would often attend our fund raiser pancake breakfasts, fishfrys and bake sales and we often ran into them on medical aid calls in the back country of San Diego County. We often discussed the problems and difficulties of our jobs and I marvelled at the way the BP agents were willing to work on the "far side of the moon" knowing cover is a long time away. Agent Rosas died protecting the future on the U.S. and I thank him and offer condolences to his loved ones.

God bless the family, friends and US Border Patrol Department during this sad time for their loss of Agent Robert Wimer Rosas.

The Judgment:

The officer stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shinning,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, Officer,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The officer squared his shoulder and said,
"No, lord I guess I aint,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was rough,
And sometimes I've been violent
Because the streets are tough.

But I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep..
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
when the bills got to steep.

And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept an unmanly tear.

I know I don't deserve a place
among the people here.
They never wanted me around
except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
it needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't...I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne,
where the saints often trod.
As the officer waited quietly
for the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, Officer.
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

I am deeply saddened by the death of this public servant who paid the ultimate cost of protecting our country and its citizens. I am especially sad for the loss of a young husband and father to his family. I pray God will bless this young family. You are in my prayers. This country has been blessed and is a safer place because of the work of this brave warrior and those that served beside him.
