Officer Heine,
May your tragedy be an ever lasting reminder that Law Enforcement work is demanding both physically and mentally and that no city, county or state could ever compensate us enough. Only we know why we do what we do. Your community and this country are forever in your debt. You are a Hero and you will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace brother, we'll take it from here.

The Thin Blue Line

There is a line the color of the sky on a clear afternoon
There is a line the hue of the ocean on a bright sunny day
There is a line the purest shade of a newborn's eyes awakening for the first time
There is a line that protects us from harm in all we do
whether day or night
There is a line no one can penetrate no one can alleviate
There is a line made of those who choose to follow a calling many do not hear and still more do not comprehend
They choose to walk the path of fear, hate, and mistrust
taken by so few but marked by so many And when one leaves this line they leave a legacy but the line does not break
for the remaining must still protect There may be emptiness
a loss, or sadness but never a hole not in this line
This line that holds the ghosts of the souls who have gone
and the souls of the ghosts who will be

Thank you for your service. As a former Puebloan and the wife of a LEO in the Denver area, I was very saddened by this situation. A good man who was doing his job paid the ultimate sacrifice! May your family find comfort in the days ahead.

Nicholas, you have called home. Your tour of duty here on this great Earth is over now. You have been called upon to now walk the beat on puffy blueish white clouds. Though many are and will miss you here on Earth, we know you are fine now. We know that your out of pain and that being one of God's Patrol people is the best beat ever.

To Officer N. Heine's Family, I know that the pain of losing such a wonderful person leaves a great hole in your heart. Never stop thinking of him, of the good times the bad times, and most of all just those quiet times with him. He'll always be right there by your side, watching over you and everyone he loved. Just always remember to never stop living your life here in this life, you know Nicholas would not have wanted it any other way. You will always be in my prayers.

Now, To his Brothers and Sisters from the Pueblo City Police Department, You have suffered a great loss. Losing a fellow brother or Sister in Blue (or Brown in some States)is never an easy thing. The pain stays with you forever. Never give up hope, keep moving forward knowing that your brother Officer Nicholas Heine will be watching over you guys even more, knowing all you do and all you give up in your life to protect the people of the City of Pueblo, Colorado.

Now to Mom, no one will ever feel the pain you feel right now. The pain of losing ones child is a pain that most of us are spared from. You were not, but GOD called your son and his son home only because he needed him. GOD wouldn't make you go through this if he didn't think you would understand why or if he didn't think you could mourn your son's passing and live on to continue the work that you do so well too. I know yours is a special family, hold on to each other and draw love from one another.

God sends for those he needs, at times those are ones we are not ready to let go. Remember all the good things Officer Nicholas Heine's did, all the love he gave, and mostly remember that he took on the most dangerous job around. As many of you all do, Nick woke up everyday and put on that uniform. The uniform that makes many in it just a moving target to some, but mostly he put on that uniform that to many is a ray of hope, a sign of safety, and mostly it shows a friendly face, a person that is here to help those in need .
So, go on in life knowing that Nicholas is with GOD in a safer more calming place, knowing that he would want us to mourn him and then pick ourselves up and move on in our lives. He would want us to do what we do each and every day, the thing he so loved to do, and that was to help and protect others.

You are all in my Prayers, knowing that the pain of losing such a great person will turn to Love. Most of all remember who you are and the jobs you all took on. The one that mostly is protect those in need, in what ever capacity that might be in.

Rest in peace Brother, and look over those you know and love because they need your love to move on. Until we all meet again. GOD bless you all.

Yours in Christ,
Father Tony Ramos
