Thank you for your life's sacrifice in serving and protecting others, Officer Owens. My prayers are for your wife, children, extended family, your fellow law enforcement, and the upright citizens of Cleveland who will grieve for you. I have known a family who lost their father, husband, son, and brother in a situation very similar to this one. Your family and family of fellow law enforcement officers will struggle with questions and face great challenges, but the Lord will be faithful to answer the prayers of many who want them to be protected mentally, physically and spiritually. His servants will be dispatched to help them now, just like you, Officer Owens, were so often sent to help others. In the hope that your family and friends will find comfort in the Lord, I offer this from His Word: Psalm 5, Romans Chapter 8 verse 26-27, and Romans 8 verses 38-39.

Just a grateful citizen

What a great officer, What an amazing man. "If a man has nothing in which he will die for, he is not fit to live"
Thank you for you scarafice, Thank you for your dedication, Thank you making a way for the rest of us to follow. Rest now my friend you did your job well. Now it is time for the rest of us to pick up your armor and your shield and fight on ,for I know that everyday we enter that jungle you will be with us in spirit, fighting with us, By the the Grace of God we will have the courage, because He sent us you as an example. And to the family "Only on the darkest of nights can you see the brightest stars" I pray that you will look for those stars, That you see the stars, because that is where Derek is. And when daybreak comes I hope and pray that you will feel the warm sunshine, because that too is Derek smiling upon us.

Derek-

Though your time here seemed short, your impact was and will continue to be great! Wish you could be here with us and most importantly sitting next to Ericka and your children as so many people pay tribute to your life. May you watch over them from above and send a smile from the sky when they need you the most!

The past year of our life has been greatly blessed with your friendship. Your vision of a brighter and better future for your family and the community will not be forgotten. NuVision has lost a friend, a family member and a brother. You have impacted our life and so many others. We will forever miss you Mr. Owens.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.
