To Officer Somohano
You can rest now, you have fought the good fight, from your heavenly perch watch over the rest of us that still patrol the streets.

To the family of Officer Somohano and the Miami-Dade Police Dept
Words of condolences or understanding seem not to find it's mark during this time. But having gone through a lost also , with time your heart and soul will heal. You will shed more tears than you could every believe one person can. As dark as it is, there is light at the end of this great tunnel you are in and your family and Jose will make sure you reach the other side. Do not remember the day of event, but those that he laughed out loud, things that are unique to him, a look that would bring a smile to your face. Those are the things that are him and he will always be near, the touch of a breeze on your face when you cry is him telling you not to, when you get a feeling of a warm embrace when no one is near is him telling you that he loves you. Your family will be in my families prayers during this trying time. To Miami-Dade Police Family, your watch will feel his lost, your beat and row call will feel empty, but under stand that like you it is a job that is part of you and god had other plans for him and nothing you could have changed would have changed the out come. When on the road again he will be near and never forgotten. You will also be in my families prayers and be safe out there.

I never dreamed it would be me
My name for all eternity
Recorded here at this hollow place
Alas my name, no more my face
"In the line of duty" I hear them say
My family now the price to pay
My folded flag stained with their tears
We only had those few short years
The badge no longer on my chest
I sleep now in eternal rest
My sword I pass to those behind
And pray they keep this thought in mind
I never dreamed it would be me
And on my heavy heart and bended knee
I ask for all those here from the past
Dear God let my name be the last.

We face danger every day, but no matter what, it never makes sense when one of us falls. After my shift last night I came straight home to see if they had caught the man who took your life. I see my Florida brothers took care of business. Being a former Florida Deputy, I have seen first hand what happens when you kill one of us. Your murder forced our hand to take his life. I can say I am happy that your family doesn't have to go through a long drawn out trail to convict this person. Your home now and your family will be taken care of. So rest easy my brother we'll take your watch from here.
