Deputy Gama, I agree with Maj.Parlor,LAPD. The May Day march means nothing in comparison to a hero giving his life in the line of duty. Thank you sir, for your many years of service and of course for your ultimate sacrifice. You are a hero who will not be forgotten. I am sorry that I was not the traffic officer on duty at Whitsett and Oxnard. To the 18 year old who caused the death of this deputy, two things. First, the drinking age in California is 21. Second, you never, ever drink and drive. You will have to live with this for the rest of your life, regardless of your sentence. To the Gama family, you are in my prayers as you go through this time of tremendous grief. To the LASD family, you have my prayers through this time, and as you continue your watch. You are all heroes! Romans 13:4!

To Deputy Gama's Mom, Wife and children I wish to extend my sincere sympathy...I have walked in your shoes and it is really hard to get through.Maybe the LASD people have a reserved cloud where they watch over us all.We need to be proud and thankful for our law enforcement people all over this country..They love their jobs and put their lives on the line every day...God Bless them ..each and everyone of them..My other son is also a Deputy Sheriff in Ventura and I pray a lot for him and all law enforcement ..

Exactly 20 years to the day that you joined the patrol as a deputy in the LASD, you sacrificed your life to help in a criminal investigation related to cargo theft...May your fellow deputies reminisce in the coming days of your persistence in fighting crime(and in the case of that train derailment in the City of Commerce a few years ago, saving a family from being crushed by a railcar loaded with lumber)...

The City of Commerce and its residents salute you and will forever remember your awarding of the Medal of Valor by Sheriff Leroy P. Baca.

You now join Hagop "Jake" Kuredjian(Santa Clarita Valley Division), David March(Temple City Station), and many other fallen LASD heroes in the County of Heaven, patrolling amongst the clouds, while looking down on the City of Commerce...

EOW: 01MAY2007...Godspeed, Deputy Raul Gama...you will be missed...

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Deputy Gama, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.

Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest
