Reflections for Air Interdiction Agent Clinton B. Thrasher

--"If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded." -- Maya Angelou

Aloha Pilot Clinton B. Thrasher,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe, will NEVER be forgotten.

I personally pledge, (after one of Hawaii's own, Honolulu Police Officer Steve Favela, lost his life last year in the line of duty protecting our Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush), to become a continuum; a keeper of the ODMP light. That sacred light is in the form of an ODMP tribute. People from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, religion, profession, education, and geographical location can share here.

This "LIGHT" comes from within the heart and soul of every person who cares to share a word or two on behalf of each and every fallen officer. Every fallen officer is a hero. The ODMP; Officer Down Memorial Page gives us a place to come together and share our feelings as one family. May we find solace as we give solace to the families who have lost a loved one.

Pilot Clinton B. Thrasher, God Bless you. You are a hero. As we say in Hawaii, “You are`Ohana.” “You are Family.” No one will ever be able to replace you for you were unique and very special. No one; not in this lifetime. May God allow you to rest in His Divine peace. I wish you, your loved ones, and your fellow officers, peace and love beyond all understanding. I honor you today. You will NEVER be forgotten.

--"Your life is more important than you can imagine."-- Maya Angelou

** May this Hawaiian prayer give all those who read it comfort. **

THE PEACE OF " I "
KA MALUHIA O KA "I"

Peace be with you, All My Peace,
O ka Maluhia no me oe, Ku'u Maluhia a pau loa,

The Peace that is " I ", the Peace that is "I am".

The Peace for always, now and forever and evermore.

My Peace " I " give to you, My Peace " I " leave with you,

Not the world's Peace, but, only My Peace,
The Peace of " I ".

When any officer gets "the call" about an officer being down, you selfishly hope that it isn't someone you know. Unfortunately, we can't always be that lucky. When you find out it is someone you know, and worse, someone who works across the airfield from you...it hits even harder. Our air station is directly across a runway from the CBP/AMO station at the McAllen airport. Law Enforcement in general is a small family...law enforcement aviation is even smaller. We can't help but know these folks. If there can ever be said that some died "doing what they love"...the job of Airborne Law Enforcement is the very basis for that statement. Most of us that are lucky enough to get to do this job wouldn't trade assignments with anyone. To say that Clint "died doing what he loved" is most likely an understatement. Of course, that doesn't make it any easier to deal with but I'll bet his family will agree that he had was a passion for doing the job that some folks just wouldn't understand.

My heart and prayers go out to Clint's family...both his immediate one, and all of his brothers and sisters on the job. May you all find the strength to cope with this tragedy and go on with life so you can keep fighting the fight. To do anything otherwise would be a disservice to Clint's memory.

May God bless you all.

Cop on |the Take

|First he takes |the oath.

|Now look at |all he takes.

|He takes it in |stride when |people call |him pig.

|He takes time |to stop and |talk to |children.

|He takes your |verbal abuse |while giving |you a ticket |you really |deserved.

|He takes on |creeps you |would be |afraid to even |look at.

|He takes time |away from his |family to keep |you safe.

|He takes your |injured child |to the |hospital.

|He takes the |graveyard |shift without |complaint |because it's |his turn.

|He takes his |life into his |hands daily.

|He takes you |home when |your car |breaks down.

|He takes time |to explain |why both |your |headlights |have to work.

|He takes the |job no one |else wants--|telling you a |loved one has |died.

|He takes |criminals to |jail.

|He takes in |sights that |would make |you cry.

|Sometimes he |cries too, but |he takes it |anyway |because |someone has |to.

|If he is lucky, |he takes |retirement.

|He takes |memories to |bed each |night that |you couldn't |bear for |even one |day.

|Sometimes, |he takes a |bullet.

|And yes, |occasionally |he may take a |free cup of |coffee.

|Then one day |he pays for all |he has taken, |and God takes |him.

|Please |remember |that the "He" |in all this |represents |all police |officers, both |men and |women who |have served |and are |serving our |cities and |their citizens |we have all |sworn to |protect.

|Blessed are |the peace |keepers!
