I met Sottile last summer in the middle of a Florida Rainstorm. He was working a hit and run crash. I stopped to assist him with traffic control and he was such a pleasant person to talk to. Sottile was a good man and his death is all to tragic. Dealing with the recent murder of Deputy Vernon "Matt" Williams and K9 DiOGi from my agency just a few months ago adds to an already sad time for Central Florida. God Bless all Law Enforcement. Stay safe!

My wife and I are 'snowbirds', spending our winters near the scene of Sgt. Sottile's death. We have a son who is a Michigan State Trooper and a son who is a Michigan Conservation Officer. Both are nearing retirment age. I have been retired 22 years from the Michigan Dept of Natural Resources (Conservation Officer) and my brother has been retired 32 years from the Michigan State Police. We are a law enforcement family. We appreciate what fine men like Sgt. Sottile do for us. Of course, there is not a day goes by that we do not ponder the danger of our son's jobs. Our sincere condolences go out to the family...Bless You.

Craig Smith, MI Conservation Officer

Sgt Sottile and family,

My prayers are with you and your family. Our agency worked hand in hand with the H.C.S.O the night of the tragedy and left no stone unturned. Everyone worked diligently and effortlessly, from dispatchers, and officers to deputies, to ensure the apprehension of the monsters who so callously took your life, so that they could be brought to justice. Thank you for serving our county and for sacraficing your life to ensure the safety of ours. God Bless you and your family! Please watch over all of us.
