Reflections for Police Officer Bryan Dennis Tuvera

I recently lost a friend and fellow officer in the line of duty. My sister lives in San Francisco. I just want to thank you for your service to her. Thank you to those of you who continue to work the streets as you remember and mourn for your friend...I know its not easy.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Officer Tuvera, especially to his wife. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Bryan, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Bryan's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Bryan's life was about so much more than the way he died. Bryan will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Officer Tuvera, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been four years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

I never knew Bryan, but when his sister told me what happened my Heart grew heavy. Although I never met him, and our paths never crossed, I consider him a Brother. Only other Police officers will understand. God Bless.

Bryan, I remember seeing your picture in the paper and taking a deep breath. A year ago, we began talking in between court sessions. We exchanged stories about Taraval Station and jokes about one FTO that we both had.

I responded to the 406 (officer down call)Dec 23,06. I came from the Southern and I knew it was bad by the voices of the dispatchers and cops on the radio. You were gone already as we crowded around at the hospital. Later that nite, we lined up and saluted you as your body was taken from the hospital by the coroner.

Bryan...I still remember March 2003 I was your FTO and we had a very big challenge in front of us… How to get you guys (the recruits) through the SF Anti-War Demos, we were assigned to… Let me just tell you again, YOU MADE ME VERY PROUD...The calmness you presented even during one of the most chaotic times of my life...We were need deep in it...4th and Market Street...You, me, Kevin McKendry, and Tony Nelson...I knew from then on that you were able to handle your own and would be just fine...Sometimes I sit and think "was there anything I could have showed him that might of changed what happened", Nope, you were one of the best…You will be missed and will always be in my thoughts. God bless you my brother. I will see you again one day; this time I’ll be the rookie and you could show me the ropes…

"You're in a better place, I've heard a thousand times
And at least a thousand times I've rejoiced for you
But the reason why I'm broken, the reason why I cry
Is how long must I wait to be with you

I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now

Help me Lord cause I don't understand your ways
The reason why I wonder if I'll ever know
But, even if you showed me, the hurt would be the same
Cause I'm still here so far away from home

I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now

In Christ, there are no goodbye
And in Christ, there is no end
So I'll hold onto Jesus with all that I have
To see you again
To see you again

And I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
Won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
Won't you give me strength to make it through somehow

I've never been more homesick than now"

"Our Fallen Brother"
As I held him close, I began to cry
Wondering and hoping our friend would never die
I could see the whites of his eyes, as he held me tight
The wind whisked through his hair, as we saw the light

He cried no more as we fell to the ground
His one single tear, would never be found
Cry not my friend God will take you home
The Angels in Heaven will not be alone

You're safe and well as a child to his mother

You will always be remembered as
OUR FALLEN BROTHER

Dear Mrs. Tuvera

I know of your pain all too well. My father was killed in the line of duty June 19, 1970. I was five my sister seven at the time. I'am sure my father is up there welcoming your husband into heaven. The pain now might seem like it will never subside, but it will. Do not feel that you cant go on. Your husband would want you to remember the great times and use them as strength to carry on. I still think of my father everyday and know oneday we will be together again. I will pray for your husband and you. God Bless.
