To Officer Ken Jordan and Family,

It's hard to explain the actual feeling or emotions one has when a brave and compassionate person has fallen protecting what they beleive in. You and your family are in my prayers, and I can't help to wonder why it's always the people that actually make a diffrence in this world end up being the ones that leave it so soon. Rest in Peace Brother, you have made the world a better place and we are all blessed to have had you here for such a short time.

Ken,

It hurts deeply to know that I will never arrive to work and walk into the office we shared together and see you sitting there taking care of the administrative duties we shared. From the day I met you two years ago after leaving the academy you treated me like one of the guys and not a rookie. I still remember the night in PTO where I rode with you for DUI training. You taught me what I needed to know and then showed your confidence in me by letting me handle the first dui we processed that night. DUI's were your passion and it showed in the number of arrest you made and how well your reports were done. To this day while doing all the filing of paperwork for the DA's office and DOR on the dui's, I would read through your packets and see how you did them and by doing so I have become a better DUI Officer. You made it clear that your job was to handle the dui's so that our fellow officers were available for calls for service even if it meant going from one stop to another and another until you cleared up all the patrol units. I still recall the day you approached me before line-up in August of 2005 when the vacancy came open for the dui position at the Creek. You encouraged me to put in for it and after doing so you made sure I knew what to study and told me what I needed to know. Thanks to you and your mentorship I got the job and have become the dui officer I am today because of you.It was an honor to work with you as your dui partner and I will forever treasure every lunch break we took together and just talked. You always had such a positive outlook on life and not once did I hear you complain about anything. You always showed every person you contacted respect even when they did not deserve it. It never failed, whenever you were clear and not on a call you always showed up on my traffic stops to make sure I was okay and offering to help me whether it be filling out the tow card or the summonses. You were always eager to help others, even our team members from the other divisions by showing up at Memorial and offering to help with the dui paperwork. I still remember clearly last Thursday night when I got into that foot chase, without even being dispatched you showed up on the scene and made sure I was okay and checked around for the other burglar. Later in the shift while I was doing the paperwork and it was time for you to go home you still offered to stay and help out with whatever me or Ryan needed. Unfortunately that was the last time I would see you or speak to you. I know you are in a much better place now and keeping the kingdom above safe along side Jared. Not only has the department showed it's support but the community once again has shown the respect you so deserve. I stopped by your memorial last night and there are so many flowers, cards and poems. As I stood there with Jason, Heidi, Dan and Matt I know you spoke to us, when we arrived there was no wind but after a few minutes it got windy and the flags were flying proudly. I know you were probably telling me you are okay and to stop mourning, keep my head up and move on. On Monday we will honor you and our big family in blue will come together along with our fellow officers from around the country. I promise we will look after your family and Heidi. Walk the beat with me my wing man and continue to look out for us as you always did. I won't get to keep my promise about that Mexican restaurant I was suppose to take you to soon but I will make it up to you when we meet again when I walk through those pearly gates you will be standing guard at

3T17 Rest in Peace, we have the watch.

With much love your Dui Partner and brother in blue,

Martin Herrea (3T16)

To the Jordan Family, Heidi and Jason, you are all in my prayers. We will all get through this over time but know that Ken will always be with us and never forgotten. I am here for you all if you ever need anything.
