Deputy Mitchell, we all mourn because of your vicious murder. Those responsible will face justice, if not in this world, then in the next, of that I have no doubt.

My heart and my prayers go out to your wife and son as well as to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department. Though you will no longer be with them in body, you will truly never leave them and will offer guidance and counseling when they least expect it.

God Bless and may you Rest in Peace, Brother.

Rest easy Deputy Mitchell! Thank you for your sacrfice and that of the ones you left behind. The world loses a bit of humanity with each one that passes. I pray that you watch over your little boy and hope that he grows up well and strong with the help of your fellow brothers and sisters still on watch down here. And that he does not suffer too much from the loss of you touch. Take care!

To the family and friends of Deputy Sheriff Jeffrey Mitchell,
No words can make the pain go away or your burden lighter. My prayer is that you'll put your trust in Christ and lean on Him during this difficult time. Everything happens for a reason and although we don't understand we have to have faith and simply believe. The suspect will be caught and he will receive far less than what he deserves, but a day will come when he'll have to answer to a higher authority and, "Woe is he..." You are all in my prayers.

To the family and friends of Deputy Sheriff Jeffrey V. Mitchell:
I am truly sorry for your loss. We just attended a funeral today and to hear about another loss of life just kills me inside. I know that there are no words that can bring you comfort in this time, but know that we are all praying for you.

To Officer Mitchell... As the spouse of a cop, I have heard all the stories and all I can say is that it takes a truly amazing person to do what you do. There is not one person who cannot stand proud to put on that uniform. I hear these stories and think, I am not a strong enough person to do that job, and thankfully there are so many people just like you willing to step up and take care of us who just aren't as strong. I never had the pleasure of knowing you, but I know that anyone who can put on that uniform and put up with the BS year after year for nine years must be an amazing person. I am sorry that you had to leave this earth the way you did, but I know that God had some higher purpose. Maybe this incident will make us look in the mirror and decide to be a bit nicer today. Maybe it means swallowing our pride and making up with our spouse. Maybe it means not watching tv in order to spend time with our loved ones. I know that there is something that we can all take away from this, I just pray that we will all take some time to reflect on what that is.
I pray that we catch that SOB and that justice will be done. Thank you for serving so faithfully for so long. You and your family are amazing people. You all will be in my prayers.

Once again we are faced with sorrow of another officer who has given their life helping to protect others. This not only brings sadness to the family but also to the department and the law enforcement of this great country and world. We pray that your sorrow will not be forgotten and that there are other officers there for you in your time of need.
