To the family:
There are absolutely no words to help you feel better after this big loss. You are in my prayers as well as our hero Deputy Sheriff Jeffrey Mitchell. Just think that he is in a better place looking down on us.

The Monument

I never dreamed it would be me
My name for all eternity
Recorded here at this hallowed place
Alas, my name, no more my face.

"In the line of duty" I hear them say
My family now the price will pay
My folded flag stained with their tears
We only had those few short years.

The badge no longer on my chest
I sleep now in eternal rest
My sword I pass to those behind
And pray they keep this thought in mind.

I never dreamed it would be me
And with heavy heart and bended knee
I ask for all here from the past
Dear God, let my name be the last.

To Jeff, His Family and His Friends:

I never had the opportunity to work with you, and we only met briefly at change of shift at RCCC.

Earlier this week, I spoke to a female whose life you impacted and saved but probably never even new it. Although she did not tell me her name, she told me this story.

About a week ago, Jeff stumbled into my life when I needed him the most. I was at my wits end and was done living this life. Jeff arrived as my, “Angel in Black”. He helped me through a tough time, and treated me with the dignity and respect that I didn’t even realize I deserved.

His kindness and gentle heart is the only reason I am standing before you today. I wish there was some way I could thank him for giving me a second chance at life. My heart goes out to the family of my "Angel in Black."

To those Jeffrey has left behind to go on without him, my thoughts and prayers will always be with you. You are not alone in this, even though you feel that you are. I know that Peter and other brothers and sisters in blue welcomed Jeffrey into Heaven with wide open arms. He made it just in time for Heaven's huge Halloween party.

I know your journey through grief and healing will be a long one and there will be many times you wish to give up, but don't. Jeffrey is smiling down on you and always will be. Please remember that everyday I kiss my LEO goodbye, I remember the one you have all lost. And I know Peter is showing him around Heaven and they've already found so much in common.

God bless you all. I will never forget Jeff's sacrifice for our country and his community, and I will not let others forget either. You are all in my prayers day and night

Jeffrey,
Just know that you have touched people who you didn't even know. Your service was beautiful. I noticed that right after the helocopters flew over, I saw a single hawk circling above the arena. I pointed it out to a few more officers and we agreed that it was you.
My heart hurts for your wife and son. I had to call my own husband to tell him how much I love him. I will go home and embrase my boys.
Crystal, I pray that you will have strength. I can't express how sorry I feel for your loss. I fell confident that you will find closure once justice is served. Everyone in law enforcement has taken this personally and will work together to find the beast who killed Jeffrey.
Jake, don't be afraid. Your daddy is still with you. He always will be.

To the love ones who has lost a wonderful man. I was crossing the bridge when I saw the helicopters fly over and one drifted away. I started to cry. I don't know how a wife would feel when they lose their husband and I pray I don't. All I know is that I hope that Officer Mitchell's wife and son will heal later in their lives and remember the love, laughter, tender moments and words that he has left behind. Being asian we don't show alot of effection but myself being married for only a few years and having 2 young sons I feel that life is precious and I make sure they kiss daddy every morning and say I love you!

Mrs. Mitchell- I wish you and your family a my deepest sympathy. I know life will be hard and trying. I pray that your husband killer be caught and put to justice because Officer Mitchell cannot be replaced as a officer, husband, father, son or brother! I pray that in the near future you and your young son will heal and that this nightmare will end. God Bless!

Jeff:
Words can not express how sorry I am that this turn of tragic events has occurred. Although you are my brother in laws brother, we only had the opportunity to meet a very few times. I remember thinking what a beautiful family you had. Your son will always remember what it means to have known a true hero and the example that you have set for him will last a lifetime. Know that you will be truly missed but never forgotten, thank you for your true dedication and service.
