It is a time of sorrow, it is a time of grief, and it is a sad time for officers and families during this sudden loss of life. We here at Cops Evangelist Ministries will have you in our prayers daily for the following days of grief. Remember that officers are honored to protect us on our homeland and we thank them for their sacrifice.

My heart felt thanks to Detective Michael D. Thomas for serving the City of Aurora and all citizens of the state of Colorado. God Bless his family, friends, co-workers and anyone who had the priveledge of knowing Detective Thomas. Please know that you all are in our hearts and prayers and that he will NEVER be forgotten.

Today on News Radio 850KOA I heard about the story where Detective Michael Thomas was eating at a local Italian Restaurant with another detective and this was close to Christmas. The waitress was talking about how she wasnt looking forward to christmas due to financial problems. Detective Thomas opened his wallet and pulled out a $100.00 bill and gave it to her. She tried to decline taking it but he wouldnt hear of it. Once again, without even thinking about it, Detective Thomas sacrificed for another citizen. This is what hero's are made of and the Lord will take great care of him.

May God Bless and protect our Men & Women who protect us every minute of every day!

A Police Officers Prayer

Lord, I ask for Courage~ Courage to face and conquer my own fears....
Courage to take me where others will not go....
I ask for strength~
Strength of the body to protect others and strength of spirit to lead others....
I ask for dedication~
Dedication to my job, to do it well, dedication to my community, to keep it safe....
and please, Lord, through it all, be at my side.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. My God Bless and keep you all and may you take comfort in knowing Mike is now walking the beat with the Lord.

Godspeed Mike! The Thin Blue Line has Gotten thinner, but it is a line that will never break, it only gets stronger with the love and understanding of your fellow Police Officers.

I worked with Mike in Vice / Narcotics and on street patrol. Mike was an outstanding officer and a better man. Quick with a smile, empathetic to someone in need, there to always lend a hand, and full of energy and compassion.

It was an honor to know and have served with Mikey T. To all who knew him remember he would want us to celebrate his life with the passion he lived it.

God Bless Mike.

My deepest thoughts and prayers are with Detective Thomas' daughter, family, friends and co-workers. I was married to Alabama State Trooper Brian Nichols EOW 2/17/2002 and I am now married to Washington County Sheriff Deputy A.V. Carpenter. All of your COPS family is here for you and hurting for you. We all became a family when our loved ones became police officers and now we have even a stronger bond when one of our family members go down. We are here for you to help you along this journey you now have joined with us. God bless you all.

I worked many patrol shifts with Mike and I have reflected on them often in these last days. Mike was a great cop because he always cared. He was fun to work with and we laughed a lot. But he took his work seriously and always treated people with the respect and compassion they deserved. If you knew Mike at all, you knew about his daughter. He was so proud of her and loved her so much. I will never forget you Mike.

My heart goes out to the friends and family of Det. Michael Thomas. I am a former Police Officer with our agency and a current civilian with CSPD. My father just retired as the Chief of Police with our agency and my uncle was on NYPD for 20 years so I know first hand what risks officers take everyday.

Please know that although your loved one has perished from this Earth, he is now in a better place, free of diseases, crime and violence. He will be looking over you from above with one of our own. Det. Jared Jenson was an officer with our agency that was killed on Feb 22nd, 2006 trying to apprehend a suspect in an attempted murder case. Although there may never be words that can comfort you, remember that time heals all wounds. In time, I believe that you will see Michael again.

Although I was never fortunate enought to have met you Det. Thomas, please know that you will be praised and miss here. Many will mourn your departure, but thank you sincerely for protecting us. I have no doubt that you were a great man...we got it from here. Rest in peace

Best of luck to the friends and family,
Sincerely,
Marc Velez, 2170

My thoughts and prayers are with you Detective Thomas. As they are with your family and colleagues.

I met members of Aurora Police Dept at Ground Zero on September 11th 2002. I have subsequently been their guest in Aurora and visited Aurora PD.

Know that the loss of a Police Officer anywhere, is a loss to all of us, wherever in the world we serve. But even more so when there is a connection through friendship.

You will be missed by so many, and forgotten by none. When I was going through my training as a rookie, he was always there for help. Not the typical 20 year vet., who didn't care if the new "boot" made it through. If I had a question he had no problem helping out. He was a hard worker, and took his job serious. He loved his Harley, and loved making fun of mine. I would be a success if my career in LE followed the example that he set. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family, friends, and my brothers and sisters at the Aurora Police Department

We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of a loved one in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support. As we personally know, sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. Rely heavily on family, friends, and other law enforcement. Honor your fallen loved one, for their sacrifice will not be forgotten.
