I was at CDIA when I heard of the loss to the Aurora Police Department as well as the loss to the community he served. After loosing one of my partners recently, I know that meer words of condolence can not replace the power, dignity and respect of the man they try to describe. However, the words spoken at Mike's service can only empower those of us that remain to attempt to serve our communities and familes as he did. Everyone who spoke at that service gave accounts of what an outstanding Officer, father and man Mike was. Just know Mike, that all of your brothers and sisters in blue are here to carry on the legacy you left behind. And to Mike's daughter, please know that you father is still watching over you from above and we will pick up where he left off down here. Mike's service brought back painful memories of Jared's (EOW 2-22-06), but one thing sticks with me now, and probably always will. Now I know what it is like to have a Chief who trully knows his Officers and cares about them deeply. Thank you to everyone who continues to support us here and to all my brothers and sisters in A-Town, know that we are here for you too. Protect, Serve, Sacrifice. Mike, Thank you for doing all three with integrity.

Mikey.....it has been a tough week and a hard day yesterday as we all attended your services. It was a fitting memorial and tribute for a great cop, a great friend, a great man and a wonderful, loving father.

You taught me much about our job as my FTO 20 years ago and about life since then during our various chats in the gym and other times when we had a chance to talk.

We all miss you. I miss you. Enjoy the streets of heaven, you've walked your beat in hell !! God Speed, God Bless !!

Looking forward to seeing you on the other side........

My deepest sorrow and sympathy to family and friends. I too lost a family member in March of this year, Deputy James McGrane, Albuquerque NM, and I know how deep your pain runs. His duty now will be to protect and watch over other law enforcement officers...he is with his angels.
Thank you Michael for keeping the streets in this country safe for so many years.

On behalf of the Sterling Heights Police Dept please accept our condolences. My heart aches for your loved ones, both your immediate family and your police family. I shudder at the similar circumstances of your death. Our officer was also stolen from us in an unprovoked ambush while sitting in his patrol car finishing paperwork. We are seperated by hundreds of miles, but we are bound by this thin blue line. While it is little comfort, know that we are thinking of you and praying for you during this difficult time.

God Bless you Detective Thomas....

It is hard to express the feelings I have had since I was told about your death. I have had many sleepless nights with thoughts filled with anger that such a wonderful, caring person could be taken from us so quickly and in a cowardly way. I feel grief and pain for your daughter whom you loved so dearly and the rest of your family. It brings tears to my eyes to think that your grand baby will never get to know what a wonderful grandfather you would have been. But, I know that your daughter will never let that happen. Although, I have felt more anger than I knew was possible, I am also a strong Christian who knows that you are in a much better place watching down on all of us. I truly appreciate all that you have done for the APD and the community that you served. Thank you for being such an inspiration and role model. I hope that I too can make a difference in people's lives like you have. Rest in peace.

I respect you.
Thank you for your service.

When I think of your years of service I think of the hundreds or probably thousands of times people breathed a sigh of relief, or stopped crying when you showed up on scene. Your presence brought order, and comfort to people in need for 24 years. I'm not sure people understand what it means to be a cop in such a place, for such a long time. I understand, and appreciate that. The good people in our society needed you, and you were there. As I type this, your picture is at the top of my screen, smiling. I know that your family is proud of you. We are all proud of you, and all of your friends in the police department.

Thank you sir, for your service. You will not be forgotten.

A thankful citizen of the Denver area.
