Reflections for Corporal Eric E. Sutphin

It is a very difficult time for the family of Corporal Eric Sutphin. It is also a difficult time for all those friends in the community that knew Eric. Officers should take comfort in knowing that Eric is in a better place now.
He served his community bravely and he will be honored and remembered for his distinguished career in law enforcement.
I will keep Eric's family and friends in my prayers and ask god to empower his family and friends with the strength and courage to deal with this tragic situation. Gods Speed Eric, there are many brother and sister officers in heaven to welcome you.

A public servant and true hero is lost today, but will never be forgotten. You fell while valiantly safeguarding the public as well as your brother officers. There is no braver deed, no greater sacrifice. God bless you and keep you, and bring his peace to your family!!

Badges of silver and stars of gold
Shrouded in black, a story is told

Early one morning when most people slept
A newly made widow quietly wept

A knock on the door, two people in blue
Told her the story that could not be true

Her husband, best friend, had given his life
Serving a stranger, a victim of strife

Handling a call, most think routine
A person on the run with a gun.

Helping a stranger, a cop gave his life

So in honor of him and his sacrifice
But also to show his grieving wife

Her love's death has meaning, He died not in vain
All of us to, will share in her pain

So we cover our badges and stand now in line
Forever, a promise, his memory will shine

R.I.P. Cpl. Sutphin you will not be forgotten.

We were so blessed to have known Eric over the past years. He was part of the All American Honor Guard, and we have special memories of events he participated in, particularly at Fort McHenry in Baltimore, MD. His enthusiasm and humor were contageous, and we well remember him joking and laughing late into the night. We also appreciated his help as the resource office for Fluvanna County High School where he helped "keep an eye out" for our foster son during some troubling times. Eric was a good, honest, hardworking man, and our prayers are with his wife and family during this time. May God grant you peace and healing during this difficult period.

This is the most difficult message I have ever delivered, but one that is necessary. In the past several days two people were taken from family and friends, and in particular my friend and brother Cpl. Eric Sutphin.

During one of the most difficult times of my professional life it was Eric who helped me transition back into police work. Having to work alongside you during that time no doubt saved me as a person and police officer. It was those private moments we shared which reminds me of the man you are.

When I speak of Eric Sutphin now it might be in past tense, but he forever will live in my heart and memories!

Eric

It takes a special person to run towards danger when everyone else is running away. Police Officers were chosen by God and called by Him for this task. You were a pleasure to know and to work with. May God Bless your family.

We once again have lost a part of the brotherhood of law enforcement. These times are difficult and the family and department has a long road of recovery ahead of them. The staff of Cops Evangelist Ministries would like you to know that we are and will continue to pray for you in this time of sorrow. Remember that God will not give you more then you can handle. Philippians 4:13 says…I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me.
