It's so sad thinking tomorrow you've been gone a year. My thoughts are with your family. Please continue to watch over all of them.

Dave,
It seems impossible to believe that tomorrow you have been gone a year. You have been missed every single day. Shawna is amazing and with the help of her wonderful parents, the rest of the family, and all the friends she has made it through the first and toughest year. We recently went to the house and had a good visit. The twins have grown so much and in many ways. We know you watch from above but from here you are not far. We miss yesterday, today, tomorrow and always. We think of you often and you'll never be forgotten.

Lots of Luv

Dave,

A year ago today, we celebrated my birthday, and it was the last time Jason and I saw you...

I have happy memories of that day, specially of you enjoying the "dulce de leche" cake my Mom made! I wish I would have got to know you better and spend more time with you..we miss you, Jason always has beautiful things to say about you and we have enjoyed soo much spending time with the kids..they are soo big now!!! And Shawna is the best little sister anyone could ask for!

We love you and miss you...

Dave,

I can't believe it has almost been a year since you have passed. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you. How I wish I could comfort Shawna, Justin and Jordan. They miss you so much. I know you are watching over them and must be so proud of how they have handled this tragedy. You're never far from our thoughts. You are greatly missed. Watch over us. We need all the help we can get!!!

Lisa and all of the Piquette family,

Although I didn't know David personally, I was at the funeral for him and was deeply touched by the experience. I bought some of David's T-shirts at the fund-raiser last year for my son Joseph to wear...and wear he does! He wears all 3 of them every week, and wears them with such pride, like he knew David! I asked him why he wears them so much, and he said "Mom, he was a hero. He was a Marine and a Deputy, so I wear them so everyone knows the sacrafice he gave." Since Joseph was 7, all he's ever wanted to be is a Marine, so this is his way of honoring this incrediable son, father, deputy and soldier. Just wanted to share this with you, to show that David is still in our thoughts. God Bless you all. Our prayers are forever with you!

Hey David,
We all miss you everyday and our thoughts are always with you. During Memorial Day the whole family arrived at the same time to see you and we all stayed to honor you. Hope you like all the flowers and flags that we left for you. We think about you everyday but Memorial Day is a day to remember and we did that, the whole family. its been almost one year since you left us but it still feels like yesterday and I know you are watching over all of us and we just wanted you to know how proud we are of you and that we have people come up to us everyday and talk about you and the wonderful accomplishments you achieved while you were here. Class 350 made you a memorial plaque that I am going to hang up in my shop so I can see you everyday.
Love you forever,
Mom and Family

Shawna, Justin, Jordan, M/M Piquette & Shawna's parents -
Today was the 38th Annual Los Angeles County Peace Officers' Memorial ceremony at LA County Sheriff's STARS Center. Deputy Piquette's name was added to the Memorial Wall, and many came today to pay tribute to Dave and others who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty.

Deputy Piquette made the ultimate sacrifice. Please take comfort in knowing that the skills he possessed and taught to recruits will keep us safe, and probably be used to save one of our lives or the lives of our partners.

Hi Dave,

I took a couple of days off to help on the Baker to Las Vegas run. It gave me a warm feeling to see all your friends drive around with run for Dave on their vehicles and the shirts said the same thing. Zoltan ran your leg of the run and I followed in the car and thought of you often, Cory ran thru the finish line holding a flag with your name on it. It made me sooo proud. It was a long night for me to stay up so late but it was such a great feeling know that your memory is still alive among your friends and I'm so proud of you for being part of it. I take off today to spend time with Lisa and the family in Hawaii again. We're planing to get together with Shawana and the kids for the twins birthday when we get back. I still miss you a lot.

I am Officer A.R Zarate from Norfolk Police Dept. I am participating in the Police Unity Tour this year (2007) its a 250+ bicycle ride from Portsmouth Virginia to Washington D.C over a three day period. This ride is to honor our brothers and sisters who have been killed in the line of duty. As a rider, I have been assigned to ride for my brother Deputy Sheriff David Stan Piquette. Though I have never met him, I am truely honored to be the one that has his name engraved on my silver bracelet that I will wear for the duration of my ride. To his family, God bless you, and although he is not there with you in body, his spirit lives on, even 2500 miles away!

David,
You and I never met, but I feel I know you. I met your family by chance in Hawaii and I fell in love with them. I am grateful that by some chance Shawna, Betty, Justin and Jordan got to meet my family and I. Because of you our family is stronger and I cherish everyday! You may not be here physically but you still influence people to do better and to live a great life!
