John Brady Murphy

Agent Murphy was shot and killed by a murder suspect in a movie theatre in Baltimore, Maryland. The suspect had been traced to the theatre from a phone call he made to Los Angeles, California. As Agent Murphy and other agents attempted to arrest the suspect he opened fire killing Agent Murphy and wounding another agent. Other agents returned fire killing the suspect. The 32-year-old suspect had been released from Alcatraz Prison six months earlier after serving a sentence for bank robbery.

Agent Murphy had been with the agency for 13 years.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 60th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be remembered and revered.
