Rest in peace James McGrane. I never got a chance to meet you even though we worked next to each other in the east mountains, but from what I read and heard you were a great person as well as a great protector of peace. God bless you and your family.

Jimmy

Just a few months ago you and I were standing side by side as Honor Guards for Mike and Rich. Our fallen brothers from the Albuquer Police Department.

We talked about the loss of our fallen comrades as we guarded them throughout the night until we escorted them to their final resting place. When I heard that night that it was you that morning, my heart dropped like a bombshell. disbelief, pain, sadness and anger all came out at the same time. As a fellow member of the Honor Guard, I was left speechless and tears fell. As I touched your flag-draped casket from one end to the other with my white-gloved hands, I remembered the times we stood side by side. We would shake hands and gather strength from each other as we would both grieve for a fallen officer.

Jimmy, It was an honor and a privilege for me to stand beside you, This time.. to honor you, my friend and brother.

Rest in peace, Jimmy. I will never forget you and what you did to make Albuquerque and Bernalillo County a safer place to live and we are all a better person for knowing you and what you believed in.

To jimmy's mom and dad: Jimmy was a one in a million guy. I'm proud to have known him and I learned a lot from him. He was always happy, alwas had a smile on his face and always had compassion for people. Especially the underdogs. Jimmy is gone from here but very much alive now. And he's looking down on us smiling and standing side by side with his commander in chief. A job well done.

To Jimmy's wife:

My deepest sympathies go to you. Jimmy was one of the best people I had ever had the privelege of knowing. late night burritos and a small soda, falling stars looked like ufo's landing and taking the criminals hostage, seeing a two-headed bear dancing across the highway, the bear wearing a tutu. I swear I think I may have seen it. Jimmy isnt gone. He will alwasy be here. In our hearts and minds. And someday we will all meet again. And maybe he can tell me how in the world that bear was able to get into that tutu, much less dance in the middle of I-40.

To the officers of The Bernalillo County Sherif's Department:

My deepest condolences go to you. He was an outstanding officer. Brave and above. Going above and beyond the call of duty. Always willing to help anyone, anytime. Day or night. Keep your eyes open for that two-headed bear on I-40 wearing a tutu.

We have all lost a friend, a son, a brother and fellow comrade. It's hard to laugh and cry at the same time. but as I look back and reflect how we were side by side honoring fellow fallen officers. I cant forget that through it all, it was his strength, his humor, his being able to blend it all into one package. That was his strength in keeping us strong for the sake of the families of the fallen officers.

God Bless Jimmy's mom and dad, his wife that he loved sooooo much and so dearly and God Bless the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department.

We will find the one that took such a precious life, he will be convicted, he will be sentenced and justice will be done.

God Bless all that place their lives in harms way to protect and to serve..

I was pulling into my driveway going 10-7 from my shift when I got the news. I sat there just asking,"why?" Why so much loss in the last year. Just know, that while you patrol in Heaven, we are all looking to bring your killer to justice. Every car, every person will get a second look until that day we catch him.And we will catch him. Rest in peace my brother.

"We sleep safely in our beds because rough men [and women] stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would harm us." -George Orwell You are a part of a profession of heroes and your watch is ended, but don't worry brother, we'll take it from here. We will not rest until this coward is brought to justice, and made to pay for this atrocity. Rest in peace and may God be with your friends and family.

I can comprehend just how sad you must feel. For the loss of someone you love. This sorrowful time must still feel unreal and you're looking for strength from above. I hope, from my heart, that your pain will decrease, that your spirit will gain strength again. And I pray that your faith will create inner peace and that God will send blessings...

As your law enforcement brothers and sisters escorted you to your final resting place, God dispatched his angels to bring you home.
While sirens were heard here on earth, trumpets played in heaven.
God welcomed you home and flocks of angels stood by to greet you.
Thank you for your ultimate sacrifice.

you know it is a sad day when a an officer of the state is just trying to support his family, when sonthing like this happens. even tho i did not know deputy mcgrane some of us still feel the pain of the loss. at the presession on tuesday the two things that is still in my thoughts is the support he was shown on his last dispatch and seeing his mother waving to suporters. i wist nothing more than a quick capture of the scum that did this and that he be sentenced to life w/o parole. from myself and all of those at the penn of new mexico we wish the family best wishes and a fond farewell on your finale dispatch... god speed and god bless deputy mcgrane

This tragedy has affected me in so many ways. You and your family will forever be remembered in my heart. I am touched by the love I see from not only this department but, from so many. This poem is posted with your picture in our office and every word rings truth. . .

I fight not for glory or fame,
For they are momentary.
I fight for those who can't.
I fight for justice.
I fight for the oppressed and
the down trodden.
And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets,
For I serve to protect the innocent.
It matters not where or when,
For evil knows no boundaries.
Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee.
Justice is my weapon.
Faith is my shield.
Hope is my armor.
Cry not at my passing,
For it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow,
But tears of joy. . .
For now, I stand with God.
